Lets say Frost has success here maybe wins a NC within the next 5-10 years. Do you think he would ever move on to the NFL or would he be content staying put like TO for 20+ years.

Maybe but I think the days of "lifer" coaches is/has been over

Coaches who are able to stay at a place for the long haul do so because they have the leverage..... i.e....."you know you can't do better than me and therefore I have job security/power".

After seeing how hard it was for him to leave his players at UCF after only 2 years - I don't see him leaving here by choice. Plus, I think he saw what happened to his good friend Chip Kelly in the NFL.

I would say no. I don’t think his system would work in the NFL. Not to mention all the other crap that comes with an NFL HC job that I don’t think he would want to get into. My thought is that his success is going to provide a long career here at NU.

I think there is more "crap" that comes with CFB. In the NFL all you do is coach.

But you function more as a CEO and you don't develop the relationships with players like you do in the college ranks. Seeing how Frost reacted to leaving his players at UCF, it seems clear that the relationships with players are very important to him.

His system is so much like Chip Kellys and we know that did not work in the NFL However, parts of Chip's system were retained by the Eagles and obviously parts of that system do work very well. How much of Scott's system would need to be tweaked to be successful is the question and adds a lot of risk to NFL owners

As far as $ goes, many NFL coaches actually make less money then Scott. The ones that make more have super bowl rings, been to the super bowl or many years of NFL coaching experience.I mean Marvin Lewis has been coaching the Bengals for ever and makes less than Scott does.

I’d say NO. He’ll have a kush job here and never have to win a NC to have job security for the next 10 to 20 years. He’s not a ME or an I guy. He’s copied Chips offense to a T. We all know how that worked out in the NFL.

Coach Frost thrives on 'relationship'... and the making of young men. By the time a guy gets to the NFL...the 'development' side and relationship is now all about money for the most part. I think IMHO that Coach Frost would be unfulfilled in the NFL. Money be darned.

So what you are saying is that at that point he would have to be one of the highest paid coaches in football, he would give up lifetime job security and take a pay cut to go coach a bunch of whiny man-childs in the NFL in a league that is on the downhill slope.

No. Why the hell would he do that?

Frost's top fear is failing here, being fired, and not being able to enjoy Nebraska again . I'm not sure if this is a realistic fear but I imagine if he wins a championship, it is really only go down from there. Going to the NFL and being fired is not anywhere near as destructive to his life as being fired from NU. Even some of the greats like Bobby Bowden had very rough patches after they won championships... people expect winning, if you don't win they don't forgive. I actually could see him leave for the NFL, if it doesn't work out, then go to a smaller program like UCF to finish up his career. That is if he wins a championship. Again our culture may be less oppressive than the one in the 90s, he may find this out, and he may never be fired or fear it whether he wins or not.

I would say no. But then we're talking about years from now. He's seen the NFL, just don't think that gig would be his thing

If he wins a NC he can take a job in the NFL the next day. I'd take it....

Fear, failing, fired, destructive, oppressive ... someone had a bad day!
