I don't know the whole story with Lampkin. Maybe there's more to it? On the surface, it looks like both schools faced a similar situation where a student signed a letter of intent to play football, was NCAA eligible, but was denied admission by the university. Stevenson is looking around for another school. Lampkin may be denied a release by UT and forced to go to junior college.

The richer, more egotistical some are- the more evil when things don't go their way

Denied a release when the school wouldn't allow him in? That will come back to bite 'em in the ass.

Kinda strange, by the time he would have signed the LOT all parties should have known if he could get two more semesters of foreign language. If he did something to not qualify why would Texas release him?

Wisconsin did something very similar with a basketball player a few years back...then the media jumped all over it and started to crucify Bo Ryan...so they just released the kid with no strings attached.

that kid was in good academic standing and on the team and decided he wanted to transfer
kid is now at Iowa I believe ... missed out on a couple of final four appearances as a result

I think he did end up at Iowa.
