We have heard about winter weight training but do players continue weight training during spring practice? During the Summer? During the season? If weight training does continue after winter, what type of training?

If during the season, what change does Duvall bring for training during the season? In the past it appeared that players were getting hurt more as the season progressed and we weren't as strong late in the season.

Weight training isn't just for 8 weeks during the winter is it?

I assume in goes on year round. I would guess summer and winter breaks it is on their own time and obviously nobody is there to hold them accountable if they do nothing.

Winter is usually where players add mass, change body composition & work on maximizing strength. The closer to the season you get the more the focus is on conditioning and being game-ready. I'm sure there's still lifting done during the season, but it's likely more maintenance and not as intense as the offseason.

Nobody is there to hold them accountable if they do nothing except the other players. You'll hear players from the Osborne era talk about players holding players accountable. That went away at some point. It sounds like that is something that Coach Frost is trying to bring back.

What a dumb post. Why would Nebraska fans give two shits about Iowas strength training?

I didn't mind the post. I know...Arbitr8 can be an irritating twit sometimes, but I found it to be a pretty cool read. It's interesting to me how different strength and conditioning staffs go about their business. Iowa obviously has a decent staff, because they take lower rated recruits and get as much as they can get out of them.

Their performance on the OLine and DLine is also a testament to their coaching staff's ability to develop players. Granted, they did well against a very poor coaching staff in Riley's Clown Car Chronicles, but they deserve some credit for what they put on the field each year, given how average their recruiting is.

Why wouldn't we care about what are competitors are doing for S&C? Keep your friends close and your enemies closer. While Iowa sucks, I still find it interesting how they approach different aspects of the game.

Yes they workout in the summer and here is a good article on the progress UCF made over the summer under Duval in 2016.

https://ucf.rivals.com/news/getting-to-know-ucf-strength-coach-zach-duval

Other articles I read talked about how Duval stressed how important sleep and nutrition is to the players, but UCF didn't have the money to give each one sleep monitors or have a training table for food. So Duval would have to guess and would call players out on it if he thought they weren't sleeping and would setup his own makeshift training table and have nuts or grains to eat pre/post workouts and then have grillouts later.
After the success Duval had in 2016 with changing the players physically, UCF decided give him access to Omegawave sleep monitors and to add a $1.7million nutrition center and training table for the players, but it won't be complete till later in 2018.

Nebraska isn't hampered by lack of funds like UCF and already have world class training facilities and Duval began monitoring our players sleep during winter conditioning.

It is year round, I know I will take flak for posting this but you need to know how the competition is approaching conditioning.

Actually a pretty good article. I am in to technology and this is quite a tool they are using. There is more than one way to skin the proverbial cat, I don't think anyone has the market cornered on S&C although some are clearly above others.

I will be the odd duck and thank you for sharing.

Wait, can't the S&C staff interact with the players year round?

I thought it was just the game day coaches who couldn't interact with players except for the season and official practice periods.

If the S&C staff can interact w them year round they should be there making target goals over the summer...unless they like being just OK football players.

I think it's safe to say that when they aren't in-season they are trying to make gains in muscle and performance.
