Why is the National Title Game on Monday Night?

Original baby!!! Old school!!! On network TV no less. One of my favorite movies, saw it with my dad in theaters... remember it well. I liked all the Rambo movies, cause i'm a dude.
First Blood is truly a classic.

I'm going:
1. First Blood
2. Rambo
3. Rambo: First Blood part II
-then major drop off-
4. Rambo III
5. Rambo- Last Blood

So your suggesting that the women move their tournament ?

The women have it this way so they’re not competing with the Men’s Final 4.
Yes. The ncaa preferentially puts all major mens title games on Mondays. And it sucks. End the madness. Put the biggest game of the year on a prime day at a prime time. Most of the country doesn’t care about the women’s final 4. Not a single game in the semi’s or championship were competitive this year for the women’s. And it wasn’t an anomaly.

Dude, the game started at around 7:00 your time! Also, there is this thing called recording and playing later.
Dude, no offense, but you’re that annoying devils advocate on this topic. Everybody brings up good points and you’re simply hard to get along with. If you think you have a strong argument of a Monday game starting at 9pm not being v late, you’re a fuc-ing idiot

Yep there is no perfect solution here. Unless you want to give no prep time you can’t play both the semi and NC both on the weekend. But your right the main argument is the 9 o’clock eastern start.

What would be the difference if ii was a Thursday/ Sat final four. People would come in on Wednesday and leave Sunday. Isn’t that the same as a Friday-Monday
I was responding to him talking about the FOOTBALL national championship

Do you live in the eastern time zone? I found out when I moved here 30 years ago that people stay up later, get to work later, and go home from work later than they do in the other time zones. So a game starting at 9:00 Eastern is no big deal here and it doesn't warrant calling someone what you called me.

People who actually live in the eastern time zone have no problem with the game starting at 9:00. If you don't live here, why do you care?

So businesses don’t open until mid morning and people don’t go into work until mid morning. I have been to NY several times could have fooled me. You are trying to hard to win this debate.

OK, I'll explain.

How do you get 2 Final Four basketball games in prime time on a Thursday? If you start the first one at 6 eastern and the second at 9 eastern, that's 3 and 6 on the west coast, with everyone who works missing the first game. If you go to 6 and 9 on the west coast, then the games would be at 9 and midnight on the east coast. You can't fit 2 games into prime time on a Thursday and you don't need to on Saturday as people are generally home on Saturday.

Oh and BTW, the NBA schedules games on TNT or ESPN for 7:30 and 10:00 (2.5 hours), but you need an extra half hour because the games are played in the same arena. For the NBA telecasts, they end one game, have a quick interview, and then go directly to the tip of the 2nd game.

I also wish the tournament was more condensed. Why the hell does the Final 4 have to be played a week after the prior round? By then, I've lost all interest. The only thing that actually kept my interest was Duke and Cooper Flagg was still in it.

You can’t.play both the semi finals and finals on a weekend without no prep time. But I think the main thing we are saying I think people would rather watch the semis on a Thursday night and have the NC at say 5 o’clock on Saturday than the 9 o’clock Monday night.

Most retail businesses on Atlanta open at 9:00 to 10:00 AM unless they're serving breakfast or unless they're convenience stores that are open 24 hours. As far as professional businesses, most people come in around 9 and leave around 6 or later. It's a different timing culture.

Nonetheless, don't be a wimp. If you like the NC game and live in Nebraska, suck it up and watch it one day a year from 6:50 to 10:30. I know it's a BIG sacrifice, but I'll bet you're up to it if you really put your mind to it.

I think you're in the minority of loving late Monday night basketball.

Who said anything about playing the semis and finals on Saturday and Sunday?

But nonetheless, I disagree. I think based on experience that people would rather watch all of the games on Saturday and Monday with a possibility of a 2 game watch party on Saturday rather than miss most of one game on Thursday because they don't get off work until 5:30-6:00 or can't stay up to watch basketball until 1:00 in the morning.

What are the good points that others are bringing up? That they can't stay up until 10:00 Central a couple nights a year?

It seems like your main point for me is that I since don't agree with the wimps who bitch about a game being on TV late, it pisses you off because I'm not in the majority on this thread.

I don’t mind the CBB championship on mondays. But really wish they would make the CFB championship on Saturday night…. For selfish reasons honestly

The Sunday Crown title game outdrew the Thursday night NIT title game by 62%. Maybe some of these networks DO know what they're doing.
