Why does Trev Alberts get so much hate?

Until blockhead trev proves otherwise, he is a shill for university and B1G leadership, neither of which give two shits about winning games on the field/court

keep cashing those checks, fellas!

I think it’s premature calling him a blockhead up to this point..

Still think we will have a better idea after we play Rutgers where we’re at with SF surviving the rest of the season..

Frost will be the coach the whole season. Osborne will allow nothing less. After that, even the old man that can’t stop meddling will hopefully be ignored by those wanting the program to move forward, instead of protecting the feelings of ginger Jesus and his coach-dad

Believe me I get it … it would have been too expensive to halt the free fall and worry about winning and the current players in the program are just going to have to suck it up and endure yet another year of poor coaching and leadership
The thing everyone is not looking at here, Trev has 1 chance to fix this with his hire. Oklahoma., LSU , USC , Florida ,Miami , Oregon and ND were all hiring head coaches, that’s stiff competition for a non winning program trying to hire the same level coach that these programs are looking at to hire.

The only guarantee of Frost returning should be winning the division, outright. Short of that, he'd best be getting his walking papers unless the team looks damn good, yet somehow doesn't win the division. This needs to end.

Once again this is a stupid argument. Many of those teams hired each other's coaches. We wouldn't have been in the market for any of the coaches those programs hired in the first place and there was still plenty of other good options out there.

So if we can’t hire a Coach that these schools go after , then who would you go after if you are Trev , give me your list !

Aren't "shill" and "employee" the same thing? What's he supposed to do if Ronnie Green and the board of regents told him he couldn't fire Frost last year?

I would have thought this dumb excuse would be gone after 16-31. But I guess the coach fanboys still cling to this garbage

In hindsight, it's easy to hate on Alberts for retaining Scott Frost. However if you look back to last season, it looked like we were about to turn a corner since all the losses were close.
Don't blame Trev for the retention.

GBR

Mullen, Herman, Meyer, Chris Petersen, Doug Pederson, Bob Stoops, Orgeron, and Aranda. All have head coaching experience and all have been around successful programs and have had success themselves. I think most would have had some level of interest with a salary just under $10 mil. This list doesn't even include the giant list of coordinators or assistant coaches out there who could do a better job than Frost.

Agree a lot of coaches could do better than Frost , but the names on your list are exactly the level of coaches that the schools on my post were seeking, and you said we wouldn’t be in the market for those coaches and said my argument was stupid. I am a little confused!

Think people are underrating the Iowa connection here. Trev played high school ball in Cedar Falls, Holgorsen played in Mount Pleasant. Same time. Not far from each other. Might have even played each other. Trev knows Dana's a winner. Has seen it firsthand. He knows who to hire.

Husk out.

Moos was essentially terminated on 30 June 2021 for being frequently absent and intoxicated.
Is this the standard reason given for changing AD's? Or is being drunk part of the job description?

That's the exact same reason Minnesota gave for changing AD's.

The schools on your list each got the coaches they wanted. Most of them didn't even look too hard, they got their first choice and were willing to pay decent money to lock down that first choice. It's hard to turn down $10 million, especially when many of the coaches on my list were coaching in an era where salaries weren't above $3 million, which really wasn't all that long ago.

The reason I said we weren't in the market for the coaches you listed is because some of those coaches weren't even on the market, and they just jumped from one elite school to another. That happened with Miami, USC, and LSU. Notre Dame hired within the program, Oklahoma hired an elite assistant we didn't even know was on the market. Oregon hired another elite assistant, but again it wasn't obvious he would actually be on the market. Meanwhile the coaches I listed were all available; it's not obvious all of them would want to return to coaching, but we could have offered 10 million reasons why they should.

And yet he kept both of those losing coaches. The consequences of that decision is directly on him.
Ron Prince took over a Kansas State team that had back to back losing seasons and went 7-6 5-7. 5-7

after back to back losing seasons in years 2 and 3 Kansas state showed some self esteem and fired him

Scott Frost went 4-8 5-7 and 3-5 and was rewarded with a year 4. He subsequently took that gift and went 3-9. The athletic dept and university leadership huddled and decided that was good enough at a place like Nebraska and welcomed him back for another year …. Scott Frost is very lucky he isn’t coaching at a place that takes its football serious

I don’t think we give Trev enough credit sometimes. Yeah football and basketball stink. But look at volleyball. John cook has that program humming and Trev is making sure other sports follow suit.

Honestly hadn't thought of Dana until you mentioned him here, I wouldn't object to his hiring if Frost were to get fired.

I mean it's literally in his job description.
Yes it is , but you and some others on this board just don’t get that Trev just like every AD in the country has a boss that they Answer to. When that Decision involves 15 million dollars no AD at any school has the authority to make a decision by himself.
