After being asked at the end of the 2nd quarter against Nebraska "what do you tell these guys at halftime now," this Big 8 coach said "keep on playing and try to win three to nothing." This coaches team fan base was not too happy with the comment after the game ended and sent more than a few letters to the sports editor voicing their displeasure.

This game happened in the 1980's at Lincoln. More hints to come, if needed.

Was it Bill McCartney during the Colorado game in 1988? As I recall that game was 0-0 at halftime.

Not McCartney. That game was a nail biter, Nebraska was quite fortunate to win.

Hint: Huge play on special teams for Nebraska in the 4th quarter.
Hint: The huge special teams play was made by a kid who went by the nickname of "Cowboy."

I immediately thought of that Colorado game too.

Was that the okie state game where Swanson had the late return for a touchdown? Jimmy Johnson or Pat Jones?

Shane Swanson made the play against Oklahoma State I think... Would that have been Pat Dye?
