Who does frost have for assitance coaches

Seems like a solid staff at UCF. Most of these guys have ties to the Midwest. If you were to hire Frost I could see him trying to recruit most of these guys to Lincoln unless one of them gets the HC job. Not sure that happens though. UCF is one of the better non Power 5 jobs out there. Not many Group of 5 schools paying their coach $1.7 Million.

Is Nebraska the best opportunity he could have next?

It has been a tough 15 years.

Bob Stoops didn't wait for his alma mater and took a better job.

how do we know he even wants to come back? i dont think hes forgotten the boos he received from husker fans and the fact that phillips almost killed him in an apartment. he was here for very very minimal time, not enough to be a "nebraska" guy.

$5 million reasons. If he doesn't, move on to the next guy. After that, move on to the next guy...and so on. They are all more qualified than MR, even though MR has a class of 7 position recruits that aren't Nebraska kids or legacies ready to roll if he keeps the job, which should be a MAJOR point of contention when deciding whether to let him keep the job or not!

He was born and raised in Nebraska and played here (albeit 2 yrs). Can’t get much more Nebraska than that.
As for Phillips, he’s now dead so that’s a non issue and I believe our fanbase will support him even more because he’s a local guy and the bar has been lowered immensely since the 90s.

Would Jammal Lord come back?

I was reading some of the UCF board and it seems like they think highly of their DC Chinander. I would think Frost would try to bring him along.

He does a nice job, they play hard and physical. I would think Frost brings him along anywhere, unless UCF makes him the HC.

The fans never booed Scott Frost. They booed Tom Osborne. For those of you too young to remember, or who weren't there that day, Nebraska was (ironically) struggling against Central Florida. Frost was not having a good game. Tom Osborne put in Frankie London, in what he claimed was a pre-planned substitution to give the backup game experience. London marched the team down the field for a touchdown. While Nebraska was on defense, fans chanted Frankie's name. On the next series, Osborne put Frost back out onto the field. The booing was more of a sign of disappointment, and not some deep-seeded hatred for Frost.

What was so wrong about fans supporting Frankie London, a guy who had paid his dues, but had the unfortunate position of being behind some of Nebraska's greatest quarterbacks? Scott Frost was still the better player, but it was not his best day. What is wrong with playing the guy who is getting the job done? If Scott has matured at all in the last 20 years, he would probably realize it was not personal.

As for Tom Osborne, he had bigger things to consider. Had he benched Frost in favor of London, it may have caused Frost's confidence to falter, or created chemistry problems on the team. As it was, Frost carried the team to the national championship that season. The very next week, Frost had a dominant performance against a good Washington team in Seattle, and the rest is history.

It bugs me when people say: "the fans booed Frost" because that is a hyper-simplified version of the situation.

If Frost doesn't like booing, he better not take an SEC job. McElwain won his division twice in 2 years and has been getting boo'd this year.

No matter where Frost goes, there is a good chance Chinander gets the UCF HC gig. Only a fool would pass that up to go be a coordinator at a P5 school after seeing how it elevated Frost is just 2 years. Especially with the UCF train running strong by then. The problem then becomes splitting the staff between Frost and Chinander. If Chinander is offering a coordinator spot and Frost isn't, what do they do. It will be interesting.

Do you really think Frost gives a rat's ass what happened in college over 20 years ago? Good grief man. And if he's hired I suppose you'd want to ask him questions about that stuff huh.

Of course he would take the HC job at UCF if offered. Do you think that is likely?

Not very often does the entire staff follow a coach. This is a perfect getting off point for an assistant that feels slighted or perfect time to "fire" a coach the head coach doesn't think will work out.

Another valuable lessen that should have been learned from the last hire, is just because a coach is marginally successful at a lesser school, there is no guarantee he will be successful at the bigger school.

Lastly, the talent pool for assistant coaches at Nebraska is bigger. No offense to UCF, but for example a QB coach at Vandy may jump at the chance to be the QB coach at Nebraska, but wouldn't leave Vandy to be the QB coach at UCF, where the QB coach at UCF would probably leave UCF to go to Vandy to be the QB coach.

I was at that game. It sure seemed like the crowd was booing Frost.

I think that's the problem with booing, and also the main reason I think fans should never do it. It's just not clear who or what is being booed. And so it's easy for players to think, mistakenly or not, that they are the target of the boos. I don't think amateur athletes should ever be getting booed.

No man, they were booing Osborne. The coach who had only lost 3 games in over 4 seasons. Our fans are too classy to boo a player.

I seem to remember Jamal Lord getting booed, but I'm not sure who, exactly, the fans were booing. (See previous comment).

Well, yeah, insofar as the fans' reactions taught him a valuable lesson about their expectations and loyalty.

It is very often that an entire staff, or at least the majority, follows a coach to a new job. Do you remember TO coming back from his visit to Colorado and talking to his staff about taking the Colorado job and following him there. I live in a Minnesota and know for a fact that Glenn Mason’s entire staff, except for Dave Gillespie, followed him to Minnesota from Kansas. Jerry Kill’s staff followed him to Minnesota. P.J. Fleming’s staff followed him to Minnesota.
It is not unusual that an entire staff, or the majority of assistant coaches, follows the head coach to a new job.

I was at that game also and the fans were booing Scott Frost. In the post game press conference, TO had Scott’s back and stated the fans were booing him. Even the radio play by play announcer stated he thought they were booing Scott Frost.

Who is PJ Fleming?

Secondly, Osborne was never offered or accepted the job at Colorado so that is 100% speculation.

3rd, Kansas to Minnesota was a lateral move.

4th, Kill was a long time head coach, not a coach in his second year. That is a big difference.

Lastly, I said not very often does the ENTIRE staff come with the head coach.

Excuse me all knowing Tuco Salamananca.
1) P.J. Fleck - Do you deny his staff followed him to Minnesota?
2). It is irrelevant that Osborne was never offered or accepted the job at Colorado. It is a fact that he discussed the move with his assistants and whether they would follow him to Colorado. Please read a couple of the books he wrote where he talks about this. It is not speculation that he wanted his staff to follow him to Colorado if he chose to leave Nebraska.
3). What does it matter that Kansas to Minnesota was a lateral move. As you stated it is not very often that the entire staff comes with the head coach. You made no mention of a lateral move.
4). Again, what does it matter that Kill was a long time head coach. The fact is his staff followed him from Northern Illinois to Minnesota and you stated this rarely happens. You made no mention of long time coach vs second year coach.

Nobody had faith in Frost taking the reins after Tommie until Seattle happened. Especially with what happened in Tempe.

Osborne adjusted to him though. Brought him out of single back sets to compliment oCcasionally.

I agree. Just this year, fans started booing after a bad call right before halftime. Our team wasn't playing very well and probably thought we were booing them as they left the field. On this board, some people thought we were booing the team, but it was actually the call on the field fans were booing.

I thought he was from Wood River and both his parents went to Nebraska. Nebraska guy? I think he knows what Dorothy Lynch salad dressing tastes like.

That was a great game in Seattle. I always wore Husker clothes whenever I went to Husky games. There was a guy who sat in in the first row, right on the aisle who always said to me, "You are in the Wrong Stadium". I walked up to him that day with a huge smile on my face and said "Not today!" We had those 4 season tickets for over 25 years so everyone around us had become friends and knew I loved my Huskers. They would laugh when Sony came out with a Watchman and I would watch Husker games on it while the Husky game was unfolding below us. (They always wanted to know the score). A friend who is a big Husker fan flew home from grad school at KU and one of my best friends came out from Lincoln to go to that game. I have to say all those UW friends around us were good sports. They did ask us if we knew anything other than yelling "Go Big Red!" My brother, a Husky, wasn't too thrilled, but he survived. That just might be my favorite away game. I met a cute gal with pretty eyes for just the second time that night with all my happy friends around us and we got married 10 months later.

It was a couple games ago (Wisconsin maybe) that TLee ran the ball and slid feet feet, just short of a first down.

A defender came in and hit him somewhat high.

The crowd starting booing...

Was it because there was no flag for a late hit, or was it because of the spot of the ball not being a first down?

The announcers kept saying Nebraska fans were booing because they didn't like where the ball was spotted, and they talked about how the rule is that the ball will be placed where ever the ball was when the QB first started to slide.

I thought the crowd was booing because of the hit on TLee. Is that wrong?

I am pretty sure it was the late hit to the head. That's what got my attention, not the spot.
