On the heels of one of the worst losses in history, where do we go from here? Last week I said I'm curious to see what this team will do after a loss. In my most negative mind, I never saw this coming. If you are not worried about the next 3 games, you should be. What do we do if this team ends up 7-5?
I mentioned last week on here, is it time to consider a coaching change? The reason I mentioned it was because I could see the massive issues, the horrible play calling be the most obvious. Most of you went off. We had just hung with a solid Wisc team. While this team was 7-0 non of those 7 wins looked pretty. This type of season sums of MR career. Especially if we end up 7-5. The guy can't put a consistent season together. I know we will hear excuses from the blind die hard fans, "we have injures", "we lost our QB" "BO mentality still hangs in the players" "we don't have the talent" "wait till MR gets his recruits" Maybe that is right, but based off of his career guessing no. Solich was fired for nothing less. Losses like this there is no excuse for, zero, zilch, non. Especially out of a top 10 team.
So where do we go from here? Does this team come out next week, put the pieces back together, and win out? If so, great, we hold together a recruiting class, everyone heads into the off season with hope. This loss will be nothing put a ugly blip in history.
What if we lose 2 or 3 of the final 3 and up 7-5 or 8-4? While I believe Riley would be given 1 more year with either of those records, changes to other coaches must be made. Even if we win out I think a change needs to be made. Langsdorf and Banker being #1 and #2 option. Will Riley do it? Langsdorf possible, but doubtful. Banker No chance. If he refused to make changes then what? Again Solich was fired after a 70-10 loss and 9-3 season.
I believe Riley deserves one more year..... but then again Les Miles is still out there :)

Get real. IF we win out we finish 10-2, ranked and going to a very nice bowl game. With the lack of depth and talent we have in our O line and D line that is an AMAZING accomplishment. IF we can win out, Riley deserves a HUGE raise and a COY award.

Lots to think about in this post... but one issue I have is solich losing 70-10... wrong.

Callahan lost 70-10. Solich was fired the year before.

LOL coach of the year? That is the funniest thing I have read in a while. You find me a coach of the year winner who lost a game by 60 points. He has zero chance at coach of the year

I stand corrected. Which proves my point even more, he was fired for way less.

10-2 would be awesome, no doubt about it. With a chance to go 11-2? We would love that.

7-5...I almost wonder if Riley "retires"

10-2 regular season would be an amazing accomplishment for this team and I certainly think it's attainable...we will have better OL & DL depth next year, a more consistent passing QB (at least that's my general assumption) some great talent at the skill positions...the future is bright in Lincoln...patience, grasshopper

First stop should be somewhere outside of the top 25.

First time a Riley team did not show up ready to play. Not sure why or if it will show up in the next game. tOSU played much better than they have the last month.....if they roll everyone else including Michigan chalk it up to bad timing. All we can control is the next game.

I have admittedly never been a huge Banker fan. I have read numerous articles on the quarter D he likes to run and I just have not seen the results in the past. I am not sure what you see with Langs that would warrant immedite firing? Do you honestly think he has the horses to run a balanced O? How about a dominant running game, are the pieces there for that? What is he doing wrong EXACTLY that he needs to be gone? You can complain about results of plays but until you can account for all of the variables then you are just complaining to be complaining.

Where do we go from here?

we keep playing tommy ball till the end of the season.
thats the best we can do now. and could win us the rest of the games.
then we recruit pass blocking o-linemen, and passing qb's.
and some rush ends. we make a 5 year chart and recruit so all them positions are filled.

I would guess we win 2 of the next 3. I think NU needs to take em' one-at-a-time, close out on a positive note and RECRUIT LIKE MAD!
