When does fall camp start?

I've only seen "late July" as an answer. So 17th, 24th or 31st or some other date? Anyone know?

Why is it referred to as fall camp when it starts and ends in the summer?

First day of fall is sept 22 and we open big ten play sept 23

Probably the same reason why baseball has "spring training" which is mostly during winter. It's training for the spring, just like fall camp is camp for the fall.
