* It doesn't matter how you finish the season. Momentum, team development, cohesion and chemistry mean nothing anymore and that's sad.
* It doesn't really matter how you do in your P5 conference. Winning record, losing record ... doesn't really matter. Just beat a couple of the best teams in your league, and you're set.
* Really, ALL that matters is whether or not you can pick off a few elite teams in a 30-game season. Preferably on the road. Hell, if you beat ONE top 5 team on the road, you're probably in.
* Sadly, the "gauntlet," the consistency of a season, doesn't matter anymore. Anyone who has played sports even at the high school level in a tough league knows that often, it's the mediocre team that can get you if you're not sharp and focused. Beating teams like Maryland, Wisconsin and Indiana is not a given.
If I was a coach, I would try like hell to schedule Kentucky in Antigua in November, when their starting lineup is comprised of a bunch of 16-year-olds.
Seriously, what a joke this selection process was, and it set the worst kind of precedents. When that clown Rassmussen looked into the camera and said "your first 11 games mean the same as your last 11," I couldn't believe what I was hearing.
As others have mentioned, I'm not as pissed about Nebraska not getting in as I am about Oklahoma and Arizona State getting in. What a JOKE! And again, what a sad, sad, sad day for what was once a great American sporting event. This precedent is terrible.
