What was this about? Donovan and Fickell

Hard to say exactly what happened, but Fickell was clearly running his yap from 00:00 -00:03 followed by Donovan smiling about whatever he said, laughing about it, and giving a thumbs up.

Don't know what happened before that, or how much Donovan was jawing, but if Fickell appealed to a COP over some back and forth jawing, it completely explains the trajectory of their program.

Charmin soft.

The cop was just explaining to Donovan why offensive holding penalties are called on every team in the BIG except Wisconsin.

"Listen, Donny, it's been long established in this league that the Wisconsin OL is allowed to do THIS and THIS. Every play. Stop bitching about it. No, your guys can't do that. Don't ask questions or you'll have to answer to Barry."

Is that a cop from Wisconsin or a Lincoln cop? If it's a Lincoln cop get him the f out of Memorial Stadium. You don't grab the oline coach from behind after our best offensive performance in years. Know your place.

Donnie clearly has ties to Wisconsin, which makes it even more strange.
Wisconsin.

TOS Callahan and Washut seem to be trying to deflect on it a lot “move on to Iowa” “doesn’t look like a big deal”. Seems odd

He’s soft yes.

a badger fan pointed to Don, said “there goes Mr. fickle” for having beat his old school

Fickell said “he’s not Mr Fickell, I’m Mr. Fickell… that’s an imposter, arrested that man!!!”

"Yes, Donny. As security for a Wisconsin coach, I am allowed to go into other Big 10 stadiums and forcibly grab coaches arms from behind. If you have a problem, file the complaint with Barry"

That’s funny. I wonder what jurisdiction a cop from Wisconsin thinks he has here. I hope he kindly and in the most polite way said “if you yank in my arm again like that I’ll put you on your ass your pear-shaped bitch.”

Those aren't Lincoln cops, this is what their shoulder patch looks like. Probably Wisky campus police.
I laugh at these situations when schools bring their own cops. Those Wisconsin cops are out of their jurisdiction. They have no authority to arrest or otherwise detain anyone in Lincoln Nebraska and they'd get their ass sued and lose if they tried. They try to act as if they are in charge, but they are no different than you and me despite the uniform.
With one caveat: Lincoln police could temporarily "deputize" them

I think Fickell read the post from King saying he was the toughest coach in the B1G. He told Donovan he would whoop his ass too - Donovan thought otherwise. Cops intervened - they ended up playing NCAA 25 later that night and Donovan smashed him.

Then in an odd turn of events Fickell text Donovan at 3:00 am … “you up?😉”

Fickell pretended to talk smack at Donny Raiola but it was really just a ploy to be able to smack talk his star QB nephew. The sneaky devil..

This is bizarre. Both coaches said something and both kept walking their separate ways. What the hell is a cop doing running over and scolding (or worse) someone.
I think Fickell told the cop “Hey. There’s your childhood idol! You should go get his autograph and shake his hand”.

yeah, he was smiling and giving him the thumbs up and nodding, it was trash talking but I think the Wisky Cop had no idea he was a Husker coach, and then after chasing down this thug looking guy quickly apologizes. I would have laughed if Donovan had immediately bodyslammed the aggressive old coot.

Police protect their fellow police officers, regardless of where they are from. All part of the same brotherhood.

I think this explanation makes the most sense:

That probably does make sense but in what world does someone grab someone's arm from behind and pull as opposed to just walking in front and talking to them? Unnecessarily aggressive. You made the effort to run down a guy who is casually strolling away. Jog the extra 2 feet and step in front of him. Cop is an idiot.

Clearly not LPD arm patches. I thought the security detail for NU coaches were usually Nebraska state troopers though. Those patches don't look like NSP patches either. The picture quality isn't good enough to zoom in far enough to see what they say. The guy who ran Donovan down looked like he was in his 60s. Weird. It's not like Donovan made any threatening gestures.
