They need to yank these starters out much sooner. Don't wait until its 0-6.

OP, have you paid attention to what this bullpen has done so far? But yeah, leaving a starter in to give a 6 run lead seems like a coach waving the white flag on that particular day. Frustrating. Best I can say is he was hoping the starter would work through it and find something he can use next time out.

They are also confident in the offense. Unfortunately they grounded into 3 double plays in the game, could have just as easily outscored Illinois, but didn’t. That said, I'd rather have better pitching to rely on. Bolt must consider the consequences of not hiring a seasoned pitching coach 🤔

Something needs to change, this is where I'd start. I'd also start looking to fill that bullpen with seasoned JUCO guys.

He has one, he’s just not in uniform

In baseball, the decision of when to remove a starting pitcher from a game can be a strategic and tactical decision that depends on several factors, such as the performance of the pitcher, the score of the game, and the availability of other pitchers in the bullpen.
However, it is not uncommon for some managers to leave a struggling starting pitcher in the game for too long, which can result in the opposing team scoring more runs and the game becoming increasingly difficult to win. This can be frustrating for fans and analysts who believe that the manager should have made the decision to remove the pitcher earlier.
Ultimately, the decision to remove a starting pitcher from the game is up to the manager, who must balance the desire to win the current game with the need to preserve the health and effectiveness of their pitchers over the long term. It is a challenging decision that requires careful consideration of multiple factors, and sometimes, mistakes are made.
