Football What I'm hearing on Tony White....

I’ll say it: the weather here is absolutely ass most of the year. It’s either too ****ing hot or too ****ing cold.

People who have never lived outside of Nebraska just don’t understand how much worse the weather is in Nebraska compared to 85% of the places in the US. It’s brutal

Rhule ran a 3-3-5 at Baylor. He had to somewhat of a fan . I think Rhule got his hands involved in the defense and I don’t think TW had any input in Butlers hire. And Butler and White butted heads on things . It’s unfortunate but TW has looking for a while now at other jobs . Rhule has always had a decent defense. I will trust him to make the right move here
Phil snow has run a 4-3 at Temple ran the 3-3-5 at Baylor 3-4 at Carolina, isn't set in his base. Might not be the best scheme in the Big Ten

TW defense is not a 5-6 win defense, it’s better than that.

The offense has sh*t the bed in the two years under HCMR. But now Snow is here observing the defense?

Defense had some issues but wasn’t the constant problem the team had in his two years.

I don’t blame him for leaving.
I think it was more not having a say in the DB hire .it got worse because they weren’t on the same page and were butting heads all the time. I think White was looking before Snow came in . Bit maybe that was the final straw.

He wasn’t fired for the referenced affair. That happened a good 6 months before he was fired. He got fired because he was told to knock it off but did it again with others including ALLEGEDLY a report from T&F athlete he wouldn’t stop hitting on her.
The athlete piece is weird, but everything else? Mind your business Matt. Lol. With very few exceptions the only concern should be this: “Just win Baby!”

Exactly my thoughts, White has a good mind, but it wasn't Tony White that made our defense so hard to run against, some people just don't understand this. Nebraska MUST get some DL studs through the portal to shore up a big hole we are going to have next year. Big NIL bucks will be a must, no question about it.
My biggest worry is losing these kids…..Davis, Simpson, McGhee and Shavers, all are good looking young prospects.

I’ve lived in a bunch of places and with the exception of the desert, Nebraska’s weather is the worst. I miss the Tidewater region every damn day. Never too hot or cold with ocean views everywhere.

We’re not losing any all conference players because White and Knighton are leaving. Robinson, Hutmasher, an Gifford are seniors.

I said back then that that was a dumbass reason to fire the guy. That’s between Coop, her, and her dude. What are we, BYU?
lol don’t know what you do for a living. Bit in a major company there are rules about Sexual activity between people in the company. Cooper did this multiple times he was told to stop. The last one was an intern which will get you fired 100 percent of the time in Companies.

I’m on my first corporate gig right now, and the briefing I was given essentially says “sexual harassment is bad, but what you do outside of that on your own with a co worker is up to you.“ They don’t police affairs.

In the Army, Officers and Enlisted couldn’t date under any circumstances, nor could members of the same chain of command.

In summary — Nebraska’s Athletic Department (in my opinion) needs to lighten the **** up.

The Nebraska way means he’ll promote Dvoracek or Butler. If it’s Butler, despite all the incoming fluff pieces proclaiming his greatness I think it’s important to remember his unit was ass this year and one of the reasons he was available was because Buffalo’s HC passed him over for their DC job. We cannot have nice things.
Do not want either. This will tell me a lot about what kind of handle Rhule has about the new college football. I don't care If Butler came in and did a great job. I would still rather we go out and get a DC that can bring some studs with him from another school. My only hope is that Rhules past points to this. He has hired high school coaches as assistants, to help recruit. I don't care what he says. Even family members. If it is Butler, I will be very disappointed.

Get a guy from random BIG 12 or ACC or even group of 5 that brings 3 or 4 dudes with him, it would actually be an upgrade over T White. Look what the Indiana guy did with JMU guys.

The alleged hitting on an athlete opens up the Title IX can of worms. If done by someone with a history of “sexual misconduct” (two words I hate using together because I’m generally a MYOB type as well) that could have gotten ugly quickly.

Yeah, if it crossed over to players then you have no choice.

I understand the Title IX issue but it’s hard to understand the purpose behind a policy that forbids dating amongst adult co-workers. Like, that’s just way too much big brother and it’s one more thing HR has to police.

If what is reported above is true and it includes an intern and unwanted advances towards an athlete... no choice. Between co-workers may be bad judgment, but when you have a FOOTBALL COACH with an intern and bothering an athlete the power relationship makes it wrong on multiple levels. I won't go into the financial exposure, but I have a 21 year-old daughter who is an intern at a D-1 football program and if I heard that a coach was hitting on her, I would not think it was a 'just win baby' situation. The power asymmetry changes everything.

considering the players graduating this year he knew his defense was going to take a step back next year which would hurt his career advancement. So not surprised he is out of here.

Agreed. Believe me, I understand the liabilities involved and some of this is tongue in cheek. But outside of the passes at the athlete I wasn’t aware of him knocking off any interns. That’s an obvious no-go.

Oh well. Not the best news. Let's see what Rhule does next. I'm not convinced that he gives the DC job to Butler. If the Satterfield / Holgorsen situation showed us anything, it's that Rhule understands the importance of improving the coaching staff.

There will be a lot of good DC options for Rhule and co to consider. Trust in the process. This happens all the time to other schools and good programs will need to find the next man up to take over.

Matt Rhule would’ve been Mike Norvell but for Tony White’s defenses. ESPECIALLY last year. ST, and that offense were flat out embarrassing and it’s extremely frustrating it took him the better part of two years to realize he wasted that defense.

I believe some of the folks are also forgetting Trev and the athletic department are (were?) being sued by a womans basketball player. Absolutely zero tolerance, especially given the current situation.
