What does it take next year?

It looks like this season is quickly going down the drain. I think we'll win 1 or maybe 2 remaining games, finishing either 4-8 or 3-9 in the 2015 season.

Looking at the 2016 season, what does it take next year for MR and staff to hang on for another year? I suspect that if we go 3-9 this year and win less than 6 games next year, it will be a very brief tenure for this coaching staff. Do you guys think there's a reachable record they could hit next year to stay past two years? Or what happens if they go 4-8 this year and 5-7 next year? Does the administration point to the improved record as progress? I feel a little bad for even thinking about this 6 games into a new coach's trenure, but I just don't think MR and this staff are up for this job.

After the BYU loss, I thought that that could have been just really bad luck, or maybe lack of mental toughness and missing killer instinct from the players. It has proven to be the latter, and its sad to watch. There are some really good kids on this team, and I feel bad for them that the year has gone this badly. I suspect that the sellout streak ends either later this year or midway thru next season if they don't get off to a strong start. That will be really sad to see.

Next year they need a bowl game. Two years without a trip with the team to a nice bowl site would rub a lot of boosters the wrong way.

Pink slip.

Not only the boosters it would rub the fan base like myself the wrong way too.

recruiting 2 legit pro style qb's, and linebackers, rush ends, and db's

Yeah, but we don't decide how long a coach will last-that's up to the boosters and maybe the regents. If your name isn't Tom Osborne, you have to do what they say.

Hey NYC, seems ironic a Sox fan responding to a NYC person, right? I saw a lot of heart today, even if the depth chart is thin. It sucks to lose this close, so many times (as a Sox fan, I'm use to it, props to the spanks) but despite some shaky play-calling here and there, think about how they are fighting and staying competitive. This is a good coaching staff dealing with a lot of transition issues and injuries. My grand-dad and dad died without seeing the Sox winning a WS, but My kids and I have seen 3. Keep the faith. I lost a little after the IL game, but it was renewed today.

I think Nebraska will still make a bowl this year. Lots of bad luck so far, and sometimes that will happen. I admire a fanbase that demands more but you have to be realistic as well and realize that sometimes these seasons happen. It sucks, but the worst thing you could do is make changes again and end up like Michigan did for 7 or so years... and there isn't always a "Harbaugh" just waiting to take over.
