WHAT A GREAT MORNING!!!!

Maybe you should go back to bed...:(

Horrible 7th and 8th when the Cubs had scoring opportunities.

Bases loaded and no outs and can't score... ouch.

There's always next yea... wait, the Cubs didn't lose the series yet! There's still a chance!

I'm right here. Plenty of missed opportunities last night. Too many of them. You cant have bases loaded with no one out and fail to score. And Lester was just not sharp at all.

So yeah, 108 and counting until its reset to one.
Ha. Ok. Could not remember who had started that thread. Too lazy to go look. I have no dog in this fight. I do not like baseball and don't really follow it. But I am pulling a bit for the Cubs. 108 years is a long wait...

It's funny...I LOVED the Warriors run last year, but Durant signing there has dulled that for me...probably not fair...

But ,YEAH!!!!The Cubs thing....LOVE IT!!!!

"WE INVENTED BASEBALL!!! WE INVENTED BASEBALL"

Now before you go all nutso on me, I'm not talking about Cubs TEAM or Cubs MANAGER....I could root for those guys all day long...I'm agin the Cubs FAN who is in many cases, looking for the cool fix.....

Yes...Reds fan here...since about birth....

Ditto on the Durant signing, but I was rooting for Cleveland last year all the way. Hard pressed to think of another city who needed a championship as much as they did, Chicago not withstanding off course!!! BAAHAA!!!

I really liked the broadcast intro last night with all of the old Cleveland and Cub fans. Neat to see. At least some of those old folks will finally have their wait ended

I decided to pull for the tribe before last night's game. I agree that Durant soured me on the Warriors. Kind of like when Lebron went to the Heat. Instant Heat hater after that and I like Lebron.

As a public service reminder...

If you are older than 12 years old...STOP using the word "Cubbies." You're making the rest of us ill.

Lester actually pitched a pretty good game. The first inning he gives up a 2 out hit, then a steal, then gets a little distracted and down 2-0. That definitely hurt. But I felt he pitched a damn good game the rest of the way, sans the grooved pitch that was launched out of the yard.

I also feel fairly optimistic about the bats the Cubs had - even though they struck out aplenty. They also made Miller pitch something like 50 pitches which should make him unavailable tonight.

This didn't feel quite as bad as the first time Kershaw and Hill dominated them in the Dodgers series. I feel a lot more optimistic after losing this one than I did after the back to back losses to the Dodgers.

That said, the Cubs really need a strong outing from Arrieta tonight to show why he was the Cy Young winner a year ago. He has been good, but not great this year, but a great performance in the WS will change that quickly.

Understatement of the post season. If Arrieta gets knocked around tonight, the city of Chicago better call in some extra operators to work the suicide lines and be prepared to pay them overtime.

Jesus can we do this without personal attacks...I am a Cubs fan and have been since 84 and if anyone wants to make fun of the team I root for for losing a game in the World Series have at it...THE WORLD SERIES....Not just happy to make but man all that fan baggage is gone..The Curse nonsense is over, no more Bartman talk, loveable loser stuff...I think the Cubs still win the series but if they lose tonight it gets much more difficult.

Why on earth would you take anything said in this thread as a personal attack?

I actually happen to agree with you. I'm sure The "Cubs" are favored to win it.

Cubs should win this series, but baseball has a funny way of always being surprising in the playoffs.

A personal attack would be someone correctly labeling someone a Jaysker. Can't think of a more shameful moniker.

If this is all that you need to have a great morning, then you must have slept like a baby for decades before The Cubs and Warriors great turn around. Lots of bad mornings ahead. I loved the Warriors loss.

Neither the Cubs nor the Warriors will finish the year as champions.

GSW has no defense and will be abused for it most of the year. They will win their fair share of games in the regular season but they will likely not make it to the Finals.

Do you know the MOST bent person in the country today SHOULD BE?????

Klay Thompson

The craziest part of the baseball game was when the Cubs had the bases loaded and that short fly ball to center was hit. The Indians two easy options for a double play and didn't get either - the CF threw home instead - and the Cubs still didn't score.

My son is rooting for the Cubs, so anything I can do to hold it over his head I will. Like any good dad would do. He's kind of a bandwagon Warrior fan now to, so like I said, great morning!

So is your son gloating now?

GO CUBS!!! WOOOHOOO!!!!

They were talking on the radio the other day that it would be a bad thing for the Cubs to win the World Series. Sounded dumb, but then they asked what you would call the Cubs after a WS victory since you can't talk about the curse or call them the Lovable Losers anymore.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
My brother and I were talking about why we became Cubs fans earlier after the game started. We watched them on WGN all the time in the summer growing up, but they lost so much... We didn't know why we never liked the Braves because they played on TBS just as much, but we didn't like them for whatever reason... (even though they were really good in the 90's)

Ryne Sandberg, Shawon Dunston, Rey Sanchez, Slammin' Sammy and Mark Grace were the best.

Randy Myers came to the Cubs and got over 50 saves one year. That was exciting to watch as a kid.

Eventually Kerry Wood showed up and got 20 strikeouts in one game and then came Mark Prior, which made me think the Cubs were going to win it all with good pitching in the early 2000's.

Sure felt like a great time to be a Cubs fan in the mid-90's, even though they never won much of anything.

The Cubs have young, but talented hitters this year and good pitching. If they don't win it this year, they could have a decent chance in the next few years, but you never know what the future might bring and they may never make it to the World Series again in my lifetime, so THEY BETTER WIN IT THIS YEAR!!! GO CUBS!!

This Reds fan continues to root OPENLY for The Indians....but the Cubs did look good last night...

That's cool. I've got nothing against Cubs fans. You've got a great team this year. Here's to you losing, the team imploding and a sell off beginning. Got to get back to your usual cellar dweller spot! :D

Winning game 2 @ Cleveland was huge. Yes, Arrieta was favored to win, so in a way it was expected, but anytime you are on the road, a win is a bonus. If the bats had been silenced again coming home down 0-2 basically needing to win all three in Wrigley, I think the odds of winning would have been very slim.

Now they can come home, aim for winning 2 out of 3 (with the outside chance of taking all 3) and head back to Cleveland needing to win 1 with everything on the line and with Schwarber back as the DH.

This is setting up to be a fun series and really hope the Cubbies break through. I've only been a fan since '99 and it already feels like a lifetime to me. I can't imagine the Cubs fans who have been loyal for 30, 40, 70 years.
