I wanted to get a closer look at Benjamin and he was playing against Forney who has an Oklahoma State commit so it was a good night to watch them both. First, Wylie East's offense is a little different. They basically run a three running back offensive backfield in an all-time wildcat type of offense. Benjamin is the best of the three. There wasn't a tall one in the three, Benjamin and #7 were about the same size with #7 being a little thicker and #6 was more of a QB, but was the quickest of all of them. The QB did have the ability to throw the ball pretty well, but is really a RB recruit. Benjamin showed explosiveness, particularly running between the tackles and was a thread in the passing game. Where Benjamin didn't seem to win very well was on stretch or any run plays outside. He didn't see to have the quickness or the speed to get the defense stretched and then cut up very well. Benjamin also seems to have a game of feast or famine. I think that he had three carries for 1 yard and then broke off a 40-yard TD run. There seemed to be a pattern for Benjamin when it came to this. I would say though when it was a straight dive and he was running between the tackles he was very quick to the second level and did have pretty good speed.
It's going to be interesting to see what Nebraska does here. He does seem like an alternative, but I am just not sure that he's the kind of guy that they are looking for.
