This is the kid that has decommited from Iowa three times. Last time he put out a 'top schools' list I believe it had multiple teams that hasn't offered him (Bama, USC, Florida State, etc).

He is huge, but definitely needs a body reshaping (370 lbs is way too large and at one point I think he was 400 lbs).

So the question is, do you want him?

It will be hard to say what kind of DL Coach JP will normally go after until a few recruiting cycles, but I wager he is apt to trade size for athleticism and motor.

the DL recruits we're getting a look at make me wonder if we're looking at 3-4 front players. this guy's an ideal 3-4 nose. i'm thinking porcher looks like a 3-4 DE with a little growth.

i remember riley saying he liked the idea of getting toward a 3-4 except he needed the right players.

maybe i'm nuts (and note it isn't a complaint if we get the right guys -- i love the idea of a bunch more speed on the field in the form of 4 lbs).

Not at all... Nebraska is very serious about staying in the 4-3 and playing Quarters Coverage going forward. Parella would be targeting this guy for situational down and distance.

If the coaches feel he is good enough I'm all for it. What's the worst that will happen? He decommits? Oh well, throw your hat in the ring and see what happens.

yep count him as one of the +3. I'm glad we get to have conversations about who to turn away these days...

Unless the kid has a medical weight issue, a good Strength Coach and Nutrition Program will get him where he needs to be.

Biggest thing id look at with this kid is work ethic. Is he being recruited because he's so much larger than anybody in high school? A good redshirt year could probably reshape that 370 into a 320 2 down run stuffer. But any kid that has de-committed from a school 3 times I sure as heck wouldn't stop recruiting dt's that's for sure.

It was before your time in the B10 (about 15 years ago) but PSU once had a DT that came in at 420lbs. It took them awhile but they got him down to like 330 and the kid was flat out dominant...All Big Ten DL of the year and a first round pick...btw...I think at some point in his NFL career he got suspended for taking weight loss supplements...I'm sure they were on the banned list but come on...he wasn't taking them to get bigger.

Attitude and Motivation will determine if he can lose the weight. We've had a couple guys...like Jay Guy...that just weren't motivated. Gilbert brown played pretty heavy at KU and was effective. When someone is grossly overweight, even the most basic nutrition plan will take 40lbs off of them in fairly quick order.

The guy came from a bad background he has serious issues and a ASVISOR who is not helping him. He got on facebook and posted some very strange things pointed at his future teammates I believe that was the final straw so he is now free again to waste the time of other programs I am sure Riley knows all about him

He does indeed know all about him and hope we pass.

The 2 of tos's all have him having a offer from Nebraska, maybe this site is behind there updates on him

From the Janesville/Beloit/ Milton,Wisconsin area. (Natter), do not want. Football sucks here in this area. Teams in this area are scheduled for other WI teams for homecoming.

This is the case. Immense talent. Even with too much weight has natural strength and quickness that can't be taught. But was very odd, he started belittling his future teammates at Iowa on social media. As others said, has now committed and decommitted 3 separate times in the last year or so. I highly doubt Iowa would take him back under any circumstance at this point, but who can tell.

I do hope he gets into a program where the staff can give him some direction and away from his current situation.

They lapped up Fant like a dog with gravy on his dry food for crying out loud. They'd take this guy back in a heartbeat.
