Here are some quick notes and observations to pass along from Nebraska's full-padded practice this afternoon inside the Hawks Championship Center and fields north of Memorial Stadium. Click the link below for our full Wednesday spring practice nuggets...

***Things got a little testy towards the end of Wednesday's practice, and three different scuffles broke out between the offense and defense during some scrimmage work. It started when quarterback Ryker Fyfe got knocked to the ground on a scramble (NU is not tackling to the ground right now), and his offensive line came to his defense. That escalated into at least two other dustups, and after the third head coach Mike Riley brought the team together and told them they needed to keep their composure.

***Quarterback Tommy Armstrong did not practice Wednesday because of back spasms he's been dealing with the past week. In his place, Fyfe was moved to the Red team.

***In good injury news, receivers Jordan Westerkamp and De'Mornay Pierson-El, who both missed Monday's practice with hamstring issues, both fully practiced on Wednesday.

***Cornerback Daniel Davie (ankle) and linebackers David Santos and Luke Gifford also sat out of Wednesday's session.

***Riley said he's still seeing some good and bad from the quarterbacks at this point, but overall the group has done fairly well. He said the focus for the second half of spring ball after spring break would be cutting down on the interceptions and increasing the completion percentage.

***Riley and offensive coordinator Danny Langsdorf said they have a pretty good idea of who their top-three quarterbacks were at this point, but neither were ready to disclose who the three were at this point.

***Riley said he hasn't decided exactly how he'll handle the upcoming Spring Game, but it looks like he's leaning towards breaking it up the same way NU has broken up the team in practice, with the returning starters, veterans, etc., playing on the Red team and the younger and less experienced guys playing for the White.
