We will be fine. If you think it's "the end"...

....then you haven't been paying attention. It's been rock bottom for a while now. This year we hired a competent and cohesive coaching staff to flip, well, everything. Want to get off the bus now? Step right off. We're a bad football team right now. REAL bad. But if you think this is the end....best of luck to you. We'll be fine in the long run.

As bad as it has been, I still think this team has a chance to win each week (except OSU). Hell, deep down I thought they had a good shot at Michigan.

Hopefully SF can rally the troops and pull out a massive upset next week. That would help people put the rough start behind them.

You either think this team needs a rebuild or you don't. You either think this team lacks talent in key areas or you don't. Those beliefs are driving reactions to these loses. Lots of people think this is a Saturday problem. I think it is a Sunday-Friday problem. Lots of people think we should magically beat certain teams just because we have an "N" on our helmets. We are not granted victories because of our school, we actually do have to beat them on the field. There are no certain wins on our schedule.

fans can be more discouraging than the team, at times, but understand the frustration. here for the long haul...

Can we just stop with the repeated "Are you in, or are you out/Rome wasn't built in a day" posts? We get it. We picked up on the message the first 947 messages identical to this one.

Ha! I know!

"If you are out...don't try coming back when they are good"
Ummm, how about I will do whatever I want? This isn't like raising a bratty kid where you better be 100% in 100% of the time.

Most people would just think to themselves "Well, there are a lot of pissed guys on this forum right now...and I understand them being pissed. We haven't looked good."

But no, there are those odd few that are outside taking down everyone's license plate numbers, and if you took off because you were pissed that your favorite team sucked that day, they will wip out their note pad and condemn you to sportsfan hell for the remainder of time because your plate number was conspicuously absent in the 4th quarter. It's like your mom, except she has a double chin, her belly hangs out of the bottom of her shirt, and she has a chicken-grease stained Nebraska roster in her hand.

I agree and Bo had to deal with his deamons, Eichorst being one of them. But Bo wasn’t going to ever get us a national championship.
I know most people didn't like the Cally hire, but the man could recruit better than the last two coaches and was good at the x's and o's, if was only willing bring in a better dc, I do believe he would still be coaching at Nebraska. Even Pelini's defense weren't that good once we got into Big Ten play. Reilly well we all know how that ended.

So. Thanks for the enlightenment. I reread my post and don't see anything about the above. If you took it that way, the responsibility must be mine, I suppose. Regardless, you posit that we don't need any more of these types of posts, because everyone "gets it". I have identified a few posts that don't appear to agree with that:

The Huskers need TIME to install Frost's system. Our O-Line is not up to Pipeline standards. We don't have the depth and talent to adequately protect Martinez. We don't have a Blackshirt D-Line, and really don't have ONE single stud that other teams have to worry about. Give FROST at least 2 more years. We will be FINE. Relax.

I think people are missing the fact that nobody wants Frost gone, but do recognize that he hasn't done a good enough job with what he has. There's no excuse to be winless this year at this point. Will he (and the team) improve? Yes, but that doesn't make the road any less painful.

What don't they get? Are there people calling for Frost to be fired? Are you saying that the product on the field is acceptable?

We can go thread by thread:

1) "https://nebraska.forums.rivals.com/threads/now-is-the-lowest-point-in-our-history.219638/unread" - Well, I'd say this might be the lowest point in our history, do you not agree?

2) "https://nebraska.forums.rivals.com/threads/zero-win-season.220668/unread" - Will this be a zero win season? Unlikely, but it is definitely possible.

3) "https://nebraska.forums.rivals.com/threads/this-is-bad.220896/" - Of course this is bad.

4) "https://nebraska.forums.rivals.com/threads/potential-new-head-coach.219774/unread" - Not an actual call for a new HC, just somebody that had their panties in a wad that there are Husker fans that are upset with the product on the field and the new coaching staff's performance.

5) "https://nebraska.forums.rivals.com/threads/i-am-not-sure-this-can-be-recovered-from.220666/unread" - A reasonable concern, enough said.

6) "https://nebraska.forums.rivals.com/threads/keep-blaming-everyone-but-the-man-that-is-accountable.220828/unread" - Another fan (like me) that thinks Frost can get it turned around, but is tired of Cletii crapping on anyone that dare criticize Frost.

7) "https://nebraska.forums.rivals.com/threads/csf-wont-ever-yell-at-his-players.220778/unread" - Now this was a stupid thread. Of all the things that HCSF could be criticized for, this is not one of them.

Bottom line is that every Husker fan wants frost to succeed as HC at NU. Nobody wants him gone (I honestly couldn't think of one coach that I'd rather have than HCSF).

The coaching staff has earned most of the criticism they receive on here though, and they have failed horribly thus far. Hopefully the ship gets righted sooner rather than later.

Frost needs to give this speech except when Franklin says “great” he needs to say “terrible” and instead of “elite” use “average”

Don’t worry the small stuff silentcommit. Apparently you don’t have the same “rights” to post what you want. The drama queens are out in force. I guess they thought this was a safe space and cry room.

They could probably use some of the suggestions given to you. Funny that they don't. They can go ahead and hit the ignore button. They could even choose to not read the post! Imagine that! It isn't like someone couldn't find a whiny moany post about the players, the coaches, the system, the game, or a million other things being bitched about.

We better put in the drama queen disclaimer (tm), "we support the team and SF" :p. Just not when they play poorly, of course. It is easy to support a team that wins. The biggest disappoint for the season so far is the large amount of pussies we now have for fans.

I'm saying we understand your type of posts because we've seen 947 posts identical to yours previously. Got it now? We don't need another pep talk. We'll all be fine.

You may find this difficult to believe, but most of us don't look to you to sooth our boo boos. And just because we may be pissed doesn't mean we are getting off the bus. And being told to get off the bus for the 948th time is not only dogmatic, but it shows that you are completely oblivious to the 947 needless and irritatingly repetitive posts prior to yours.

Here's some news you may not be aware of in your salt water taffy, home-spun ice cream Ned Flanders Okilie Dokily world.. People get pissed when their favorite team is doing poorly. They vent...and it sometimes even happens on a forum dedicated to their favorite team. I know, isn't that crazy talk?

I guess what I'm trying to say is...if it's OK with you, how about we stop posting "get on/off the bus" posts. I think someone may have already mentioned this though.

BTW, did you get all the license plate numbers down?

I get it now. Guys can whine and cry like little babies and bitch and moan and all the rest and we should just allow it. On the other hand we better not try and say anything at all that would suggest guys are being a bunch of babies. You don’t recognize the double standard there?

No, I think you're far from getting it. I'll get off the fking bus when I damn well want to get off the fking bus! And I don't need people repeatedly telling me to "get on/off the bus." Now do you get it?

If we bring up the fact that Frost and his staff are partly responsible for what we have seen on the field this year, the resident Ned Flanders of the board suggest we need more fiber and Leo Buscaglia in our diet. I've had enough of that stuff to last me a lifetime.

It's time for people to realize that this staff is responsible for this team now, and THEY are responsible for the constant mistakes and penalties. Other coaches have taken over bad programs and have made an immediate impact. It may not show up in wins and loses immediately, but the program shows discipline and direction. This program has shown neither since the first half of the CU game.

Penalty Yards/game (rank in FBS)
UCF (2017) - 116th
Nebraska (2018) - 117th

This isn't something new to this staff. They were poor at it at be UCF, and if they expect to start winning some games, they need to start looking in the mirror.

It happens in all aspects of this team right now. There isn't discipline on the defensive side of the ball. Players are free-lancing, and being out of position costs us points. The bullshit needs to stop, and it starts at the top.

Ah, "snowflake." The term reserved for the less than creative mind. You're above this. And you're above missing out on the salient part of my post...that Frost and his staff had identical penalty numbers last year at UCF.

It needs to change, and if Frost and his staff don't change what they've been doing...at UCF and here...they are going to completely lose this team. If they need to make people run stairs until they drop when they commit a penalty, then so be it. But what they are doing for discipline isn't working.

Snowflake was spoken in anger, you are correct. Unnecessary. And I freely admit, all of the penalties is maddening. It’s so frustrating to see this and I was openly questioning during the game yesterday what have the coaches done to try and curtail this. I guess what I’m most frustrated by isn’t people complaining about what’s wrong… It’s people prognosticating that this is the end of husker football. That’s my big deal here.

Edit: and part of the problem is, I’m probably not clear on what my frustration is. I’m lumping together people who are complaining about the product on the field with the people who are saying we will never ever win anything again. Let me be clear… My biggest frustration is with those saying we will never get back.

"Crying like babies"...or placing blame where it ultimately belongs, on the coaches. 9 months may not be enough to weed out the quitters, but you would think it would be enough to start fixing the discipline/penalty problems. Sloppy play is sloppy play...and that is on the coaches after 9 months of being with this team.

It means technique that leads to penalties isn't being fixed in practice. It means that "play fast and worry about the mistakes later" may be OK in the AAC, but may not work when you are going up against better coaching staffs. And if there is one thing we've come to realize, it's that coaches have to be much better in Power 5 conferences to win, because better coaches reside in P5 conferences than in non-P5 conferences.

Life was definitely easier in the Big12. I think we’re all surprised how much tougher the B1G has been week in week out.

Understandable. And I must admit that seeing all of the repeated mistakes and sloppy play has gotten to me. I need to take my frustrations off the board when it gets to that point. You are correct.

I do think it's time that the coaches need to step up and realize that they need to be better in leading this team. Charlie Strong isn't kicking ass in the AAC by chance. He is going up against a lesser caliber of coach in non-Power 5 football. The best coaches are in the P5 for a reason. They are paid according to their value.

Frost needs to start kicking ass when mistakes are made, and this philosophy of "Playing fast and fixing mistakes later" maybe needs to be amended for the step up in competition. Either that or we had better become very patient as fans, and I don't think that is going to happen.

I don't know if that was the case early in the B1G, but there have been some decent coaches added to the B1G. Urban Meyer, Harbaugh, Franklin in the East is a major upgrade. Brohm and Fleck in the west would appear to be improvements. Brohm being a major improvement. Chryst is just adjusting to the system Barry A. already had in place. Ferentz has always been a good coach, despite being very conservative.

I get that too. I hate reading posts that have thrown in the towel. Even though we have looked bad, we are still just 4 games in.

Frost may need to change his approach, but for better or for worse, he is ours for at least 5 years. I don't think it will come to letting him go, because he is smart enough to realize what needs changing and what doesn't. I trust him, because he is a smart coach and knows what buttons need to be pushed.

Mods, please delete this thread. It is clear these types of posts are no longer needed here, and I know understand. Thank you.

Ok, I don't really understand the last analogy, but that did not stop me from laughing at the image....

you can't be willing to throw fists anytime someone suggests we are no longer a blue blood program and then tell fans to relax and be patient while staring down the barrel of a 0-4 win season.
Some of the fan outrage, while fanatical, is exactly what would be taking place at any other blue blood program. Can you imagine the reaction at Ohio State if they were looking at a potentially 1-2 win season.

If you view yourself as a big time football program a certain percentage of the fanbase is going to go off the rails when the product on the field is what we are currently seeing. There is a certain degree of overlap in patience and simply not caring.

The fan bases of programs like Kansas and Rutgers don't get too riled up when the football team is pathetic.

I am thankful that there are multi page pissing matches after we get taken behind the woodshed by a one win Purdue team at home. The day after a loss like that in the midst of a winless season where the majority of fans simply hug each other and preach patience is the day this program dies.

I agree about Brohm, but I don't think Fleck is a better coach than Jerry Kill, imo.

Mom's are just a lot more organized and disciplined than we are as kids. In our eyes as young kids it could come across as being a Nazi. Just way too concerned with discipline in our eyes.

There is no guarantee that NU will be fine - whatever that means.

That said, the rebuild is more difficult than a lot of us realized. It’s more than three years of stagnation under Riley. I think you can go as far back as 2011 and Pelini’s rant after the Ohio State game. He was looking to get out back then, so was clearly not focused 100% on NU. Eichorst’s hiring in 2013 and the hatred between he and Pelini only caused further damage. Riley’s lack of any kind of plan for NU meant a fractured program languished for 3 more years. That’s a 5-7 year stretch where NU’s program was degrading.
