We seem to assassinate Scott's character a lot...

Multiple years as a position coach and OC under the Chip Kelly/Oregon system
Finalist for the Broyles Award
OC for a team that played for the national title
QB coach for a Heisman Trophy winner
AP Coach of the Year
Coached a team to an undefeated season

I'm no Frost apologist, but when you lay his pre-Nebraska credentials on the table, it's hard to fathom the level of failure that occurred.

To put it another way, most of the Big 10 coaches outside of Day, Harbaugh, and maybe Franklin will never touch those accomplishments in their entire careers. My point is Frost was a very good coach before he came to Nebraska. As Husker fans, we'll probably be analyzing his coaching demise for a long time.

....I get the not winning games...and I claim to have ZERO knowledge about his outside life...but we have pretty constant' hung over' references...how much of his character is really substantiated?
I think Scott has done a pretty good job of assassinating his own character. I haven’t seen anything about him on here that hasn’t been substantiated by somebody who has reason to know.

It sounds like some of the problems either started or got out of hand at least in Lincoln.
Like everyone else, Ive heard the rumors about the drinking and other things... Are they more than rumors I don't know??? I do believe he really wanted to turn the program around... I think the heavy expectations and not being able to deliver results as quickly as he would have liked really wore on him... Some of the timing with things like the portal coming on line right when he took over, COVID, and losing his dad may have added to the stress... I mean the guy looked like he aged 30 years at his first season here... Dude is human like everyone else... And if he was drinking like its been suggested, could it have been a way to cope with the pressure???

This is my thought as well. Him not making it to a bowl game by year 2 was the kiss of death for him. His best teams were with Riley´s players (2nd half of 2018 and 2019). After year 2 it was on him to show results and he couldn´t. I don´t think he has the personality that´s necessary for nebraska. From what I heard, he never wanted to be the head coach but it was a once in a lifetime opportunity so he had no option but to take it. We made him and his family eternally rich, that´s for sure.

Bunch of ****ing excuses.

I've always wondered if SF downfall came from his father passing after he became the head coach. For some it's a hardship they can't get past. When he took over his father was battling cancer and in year two he passed. Watching a parent suffer/passing takes a toll on some which can pull any drive right out of them, especially if they were a big mentor in your life. Did he come hear with a drinking problem or did the situation he was dealing with bring it on? For that reason I'll hold my tongue and give him a pass and refrain from bad mouthing him for the reason I don't know what drove him to fail.

Dynamite try, gramps. If you’re not careful I’ll stop paying rent for living in that thick, dense, illiterate skull of yours
I see you like protecting the legitimate son you brought with you in this thread from the Ioway..

Speaking of rent free in your pathetic head, Scott Frost says I’m here for your enjoyment..

Give it a few years before you husker fans are spreading rumors about Rhule. You are the common denominators in your failed coaches.
Failed? Must be an expert opinion coming from your fanbase since you have nothing to boast about except nepotism, racism, and beating struggling teams. The minute you got close to being on the big stage your team blew it. Hopefully you have a good field goal kicker to find the end zone this year.

Frost doesn’t help himself out going back to him going to Stanford then transfers back to the Lawrence Phillips ordeal to his time coaching at Nebraska, and a lot he brings on himself by his arrogance . That adds fuel to all the speculations of him Womanizing and being a drunk

Midlife crisis perhaps when you suddenly realize you’re next in the male family line for the undertaker. Who knows the why of it. Certainly the losing and public criticism were a factor. There was no doubt more to the job than he could handle.

Yes, this a situation where after yr 2, he needed to restructure his coaching staff! If his experienced Dad was alive, he might have given that advice! Hire coaches that can recruit and coach! Most of his coaches were way in over their heads! Nebraska made them millionaires! We usually in life and situations gain experience and some knowledge when we fail! Scott Frost wasn't cut out to be a head coach at a major sports school! So, he coped and tried to hang on! I'm positive he was relieved to be let go!

There’s a lot of truth to the last sentence. They all knew they were gone after year 4, but there were some leftover Frosturbating powers that be that saved him. Again.
There were plenty of Red flags for anyone who had their eyes and ears open. A pro doesn’t come in and immediately complain. A pro doesn’t trash kids that were smart enough to transfer away from his circus (when he was a transfer himself). A pro puts in the work and tries to learn. A pro doesn’t trash players of the team he takes over, because he knows his ass lickers in the fan base will clap like circus seals in approval. All of these things were actually celebrated in our inbred fan base.
“It didn’t have to be this way”

There are a lot of coaching positions other than HC and the vast majority of these coaches have a good idea of whether or not they desire to be the head guy. And a guy can have success at a lower level and utterly fail on the step up. OTOH, Saban was staying just a step ahead of the Sheriff at MSU, then bolted to LSU and won a title.
Frost's best fit is as a coordinator.

Then Saban tried his hand in the the NFL for two seasons finishing 15-17 before heading back to College and Alabama..

WTH? Every FBS coach has to deal with pressure. Every FBS coach has to deal with COVID. Scott Frost chose to party and skirt chase instead of working hard. Outside of DWIs and DVs, nobody cares what you do as long as you win. Frost did the exact opposite. Nobody should feel sorry for that collar popping, Skoal Bandit dipping lazy mofo.

This is fair. No personal discipline and the fact that his teams found ways to lose rather than win reflects this.

He had the talent in Fl., Zip to semi talented players here. His head was in the clouds, all that winning, he thought it would go on & on. Thought too much of himself.

Oh well, on to bigger and better times!
GBR!
^^^ this.
FHCSF (you’ll get it) had basically the third best talent from the state of Florida (it’s an oversimplification, but not too far off either) @ UCF, likely better than he had here, comparable talent AT BEST, but playing in the Big 10.

He’s a great guy. Know him from undergrad. We’ve never been ‘buddies’ per se, but have said hi and chatted here and there over the years… he a super nice, down-to-earth human with unbelievable talent who unfortunately pissed away this opportunity due to bad personal decisions. Maybe that’s what a $35M contract can do. He’ll resurface and be successful again, guaranteed.

Bo we shoulda kept. Was time for Scotty to move on.
