We need this staff to do well

No. He pretty much still does that. I've noticed he likes to filibuster alot so he won't get asked as many questions. Some fans did feel he threw our QB under the bus after the horrible play calling against Illinois.

Any chance the Beavers are going to be looking for a new AD anytime soon? That would fix this whole mess.

Riley is use to giving press conferences after a loss. He has lots of practice

Having survived being a Beaver alum watching Riley just bring nothing but apathy from himself and his crew of cronies (Banker, Langsdorf, Read) the last five seasons this Riley era survivor thinks NUSouth has it right. Beavernation is just shy of unanimous that we are so better off without him. Once the spread hit college football Banker's days as a decent D-coordinator were done, now you guys get to watch safeties chasing wide open backs and tight ends across the field and mobile QBS run for first downs on 3rd and 8 over and over. Langsdorf didn't even call the plays at OSU and Read never brought a meaningful recruit to Corvallis. No Beaver fan was surprised when BYU's hail mary worked, we saw it last year against us (USC), guys standing back in the end zone not breaking on the ball. Terrible clock management, poor red zone decisions, and stubborn resistance to change were his hallmarks.

My question, having not listened to his NU postgame pressers is, are they any better than his "oh shucks" babble after loses? Does he actually "own" any of it? I ask because he never did here even after a number of incredible coaching meltdowns.

I know it's not nice to pile on, but we Beaver fans thank NU everyday for relieving us of Riley, his buddy-buddy staff and the nearly 20 Million he had as a buyout for his (basically) lifetime contract.

Seriously, I have no idea what OSU games your AD watched in the past four years before making this hire. Last season we played one solid game out of twelve. One.

I wish Huskernation well, but you ain't getting there from here under Riley. Cut your losses or ask him to gut his staff. The AD at OSU allegedly had that conversation with Riley and he was gone within 72 hours.

ps .... our AD who gave Riley his lifetime deal was gone about two months later.

If you had written this 2 months ago on this board you would had been vilified. Now, maybe after 8 games people realize how bad a hire this was. When I first heard the report that Mike Riley was hired I just about threw-up. I called a friend originally from Nebraska now living here in the Northwest to tell him the news. He could not believe it. He thought I was joking. Living in Pac 12 country we know all too well what kind of coach Riley is. Riley stated that the reason why he left his hometown is because he wanted one more challenge before he retired. The truth is that his AD had asked him to make changes in his staff and he knew his days were numbered being the head coach at Oregon State.

And good and even great coaches also lose because of what they don't have. Using your logic, Nick Saban is a failure because he didn't win a national championship at MSU.

If you work at it real hard with your hatred maybe you'll convince him not to come here. I bet that'd make you happy wouldn't it? We'd really be in a world of hurt then wouldn't we?

What is really foolish is bitching about something you have no control over.

Still waiting for you to get your seat on Gameday you genius you.

New AD did you follow recruiting in 2003 or 2005? Do you know who Curt Dukes and Harrison Beck are? Well back in 2002 and 2004 on this very board when NU was losing, many people were stating wait until Beck gets here. He'd run BC's offense and we'd be great again. Or wait until Dukes runs the offense, he'll be the next great option QB. I was one of those believers. And honestly, HB looked better in HS than POB does. Obviously we know neither of those happened

What I learned from those past experiences is it's really moronic to put the faith of the program in a freshman QB. Talk about someone who needs time, POB needs time. At least a few years or this program will swallow him up like we did Dukes and Beck. Don't for one second put that on the young QB. IF he comes in and does well day 1, great but the chances of that happening are very unlikely.

Such a breath of fresh air to hear someone say this. Every year there is always a contingent of fans who expects a 17 year old kid to come in and set the world on fire. It rarely happens.

The guy is eligible for early social security now and in 3 years will be eligible for full social security. It's not like we are talking about giving some up and comer a few years. Every day we give riley is another day of damage to the program. He and his entire osu staff should be fired immediately.
you cannot be serious! so Reilly and staff gets canned after ONE season. Who are YOU going to bring here after that? I see Al Golden is available.

Either this is a troll or it's a sign that your synapses are blocked.

Firing a coach after one season would be stupid, but I don't see any way he'd survive consecutive losing seasons. If he does, then we've become Iowa State. At a place with resources like Nebraska, it should be pretty clear after 2 years whether the program is heading in the right direction.

He's already on year 3. Read Sipple's column in the LJS how Mike has lost 3 out of 15 of his last 18 conference games. This is not a fluke. Mike's best days, if he ever had any, are behind him.

Firing a staff after a season probably will make things worse. So long as Riley and company are recruiting and working hard I would give them four seasons.

On a positive note, if we had a secondary and players who could catch we would have a winning record. I don't have a ton of confidence in Riley, but Pelini sucking as a recruiter is a huge factor in our current issues.

Riley wouldn't have been someone I chose, but he was chosen and he deserves a chance.

If he fails he can ride his bike into retirement after 4 years.

I am serious, Not making fun of you. You are really willing to put up with 4 years of this kind of football from the Huskers? I will get off the board. If the vast majority are happy with Mike and his losing record why should I pound my head against the wall. Mike and his staff have shown they aren't going to change. Let them do the pounding.
