Having survived being a Beaver alum watching Riley just bring nothing but apathy from himself and his crew of cronies (Banker, Langsdorf, Read) the last five seasons this Riley era survivor thinks NUSouth has it right. Beavernation is just shy of unanimous that we are so better off without him. Once the spread hit college football Banker's days as a decent D-coordinator were done, now you guys get to watch safeties chasing wide open backs and tight ends across the field and mobile QBS run for first downs on 3rd and 8 over and over. Langsdorf didn't even call the plays at OSU and Read never brought a meaningful recruit to Corvallis. No Beaver fan was surprised when BYU's hail mary worked, we saw it last year against us (USC), guys standing back in the end zone not breaking on the ball. Terrible clock management, poor red zone decisions, and stubborn resistance to change were his hallmarks.
My question, having not listened to his NU postgame pressers is, are they any better than his "oh shucks" babble after loses? Does he actually "own" any of it? I ask because he never did here even after a number of incredible coaching meltdowns.
I know it's not nice to pile on, but we Beaver fans thank NU everyday for relieving us of Riley, his buddy-buddy staff and the nearly 20 Million he had as a buyout for his (basically) lifetime contract.
Seriously, I have no idea what OSU games your AD watched in the past four years before making this hire. Last season we played one solid game out of twelve. One.
I wish Huskernation well, but you ain't getting there from here under Riley. Cut your losses or ask him to gut his staff. The AD at OSU allegedly had that conversation with Riley and he was gone within 72 hours.
ps .... our AD who gave Riley his lifetime deal was gone about two months later.
