We need more than a QB. In fact QB had nothing to do with yesterday’s loss.
The loss came from piss poor clock management from our coaches, horrific special teams play, 5+ plays where our defense had a missed tackle that turned a large tackle for loss into a big Wisconsin gain and an overall team that just has a complete inability to make key plays at the most pivotal moment in games.
We need so much more than one quarterback
I think we all understand the roster/culture issues MR inherited. What was not anticipated was a $9million/year, 47 year old coach who needs on the job training of game management 101…
Agreed, but we have minimum of 3 more wins with a competent QB and everyone isn’t bitching near as much. We need a lot on O but a qb goes a long way.
After watching us find ways to lose over the last 7 years, I’m not sure I can say we would have 3 more wins. The opposing teams would have played those games differently if we could have effectively moved the ball on offense, so I’m not sure we can just sit here and say better QB would have automatically led to 3 more wins. I’ll give you MN and say we definitely win that one. Our team has an uncanny ability to choke and find ways to lose games.
Those wins we missed out on due to bad QB play were: MN, CU, MSU, Maryland

Reality is that if Nebraska kicked a FG to tie with a minute remaining and Wisconsin kicked the game Winning FG on their next possession everyone would be bitching about how Rhule left too much time on the clock. Wisconsin had timeouts left too.
When all the opposing team needs is a FG to win the game, you can’t leave time on the clock and risk it. If they needed a TD different story.
Northwestern didn’t need 3-4 years to get bowl eligible. They went from 1-11 to bowl eligible in 1 year... with an fill in head coach.. I’m done with 3-4 years
Do their players play great in practice but scared in the games? What do you think Rhule has been talking all season about? These guys have been mentally fvcked by years of losing and way too much media attention for what has mostly been a G5 level program and players.
Its Rhules job to fix it, bringing in new players is the best cure, nobody thought it was going to get done in one season.
I've been watching college football for over 50 years. If a coach is good, it will show itself right away.

If a coach takes over for another coach and has more losses, does that mean that they automatically aren't a good coach?
A rebuild doesn't imply you need to piss away 3 games with questionable coaching decisions. It doesn't imply you need to get the worst possible option in the portal and chase away the only starting caliber qb we had.
Your head coach was 1-10, 3-9 first two years and his 3rd was 7-5..
Winning one more game than we did with Frost the Jackass isn't much of an accomplishment.

I think many, myself included, need to step outside the state of Nebraska and see what Nebraska looks like from the outside looking in. We are a “likely victory” on most every other schools schedules.
We have erased our history from any other teams mind of what we used to be and we are the new Kansas, Illinois, (pick your favorite bottom feeder). If Wisconsin lost to us last night, they probably would’ve seen that is a bigger insult than losing to Northwestern. That is how bad we suck in the minds of most fan bases.
So yes, a total rebuild needs to happen and I need to have some patience with the group they put in charge to do it. I’m certainly not excited about some of the things I’ve seen, but what the hell else can we do when we are as broken of a program as we are. The state of Nebraska football sucks. I’m just hopeful we can get back up to a middle of the pack program moving forward.

Really? So did bill Snyder win right away did his team show significant progress? What about McCartney at Colorado? your dislike for coach Rhule and Nebraska I suggest you find a different team
3 to 4 more wins occur with better coaching choices too. 🤷♂️
Our offensive staff is just as bad as our QBs
If we had Qb play like last night all year we are 8-3 playing Iowa for the west on Friday. But I agree we have other issues as well.
I’ll give you Minnesota as a certain win.
I’m not going to say with competent QB play, NE wins 2 other games for SURE. We don’t know for certain how the other team would have changed their strategy had we had a more capable QB.
Remember we had competent QB play last night and our guys still found a way to lose. Our roster is filled with guys who are losers. I know that’s hard for some to admit, but all these guys know how to do is lose. And man they are damn good at it at this point.
One good transfer portal QB will not turn us into a 9 win team next year. The most pressing thing is not a QB, but for our team to welcome and lean into the pressure.

We had beat KSU by atrocious scores for years, with little exception. They were generally regarded as the worst program in football
I went to the game in Snyder's first year. His lineman were high school sized. NU did indeed blow KSU out but there was something peculiar. In the fourth quarter, despite having no chance of not only winning but putting up some respectful score, his players were fighting with all they had. There was no hope but he had convinced them to give it all they got. I think he also redshirted his entire recruiting class. Each year they got a little better. Not great but better.
A great coach will be concerned with the future but that aren't just dismissing the present.

Rhule has said how they practice situational awareness what about the coaches practicing it? The last two weeks have turned into losses because we can’t manage the clock and the correct situational plays at the end of the game. I bet the entire state of Nebraska was yelling for him to call a time out there with about a minute left yesterday.

People just don't understand that Nebraska is the only program that has challenges.
Northwestern was 1-11 last year, but they didn't have any challenges to overcome to get to bowl eligible this year. Nebraska did.
Yeah, there's some other teams with first year head coaches doing better than ours, but they didn't have the challenges like us.
Wisconsin was also without their quarterback and had some injuries, but they beat us because we just have challenges to overcome and they dont.
Michigan state...yeah they beat us, but they don't have challenges to overcome like we do.
We are the only program with challenges to overcome. People need to take it easy on Rhule, literally no one believed we would or should win this year and literally everyone knows you can't be expected to be one of the 80 teams to make a bowl game at Nebraska. Yeah, maybe you can do that at some other programs, but not here at Nebraska.
We have challenges, and other programs don't. Just us.
Also, I hate when people focus on everything Nebraska has going for it as a program. Just stop it people with the fact that our recruiting, facilities, fan support, $ expenditures, etc are better than 90% of the 80 bowl eligible teams out there. Just stop people, we have challenges!

Maryland scored every point of our turnovers. I am mostly talking about the turnovers. And I agree weed need more than just a QB. And the mindset it’s the hardest job Rhule has .
The challenges Nebraska has to overcome are just too much. In fact, we should pity them, really.
