We have to be pleased with winning....Mike Riley

He is exactly right. There were things we need to get better at but at the end of the day it is about w's. Critique and some whining is OK but never forget you play to win the game.
No it's not. Bo got w's and he sucked ass. We should expect better than this. Glad it's not all w's or we'd still be stuck with that ass clown.

The words came out but his tone made it very clear to me that he was not happy with the effort. He put his best foot forward but he was clearly bothered but what he saw and he mentioned the injuries at linebacker later. I'm not sure how they are going to piece this mess together going forward. The linebacker thing is almost impossible to work around now with Newby down. Bando is not going to be near 100% for the rest of the year if he can play at all.

His tone was fine. He wasn't jubilant and he wasn't heart-broken over the game. At the end of the day, you remember that there is a scoreboard for a reason. The W's chalked up on that scoreboard will be the ultimate evaluation tool. I am sure that Riley knows these kids will hear all kinds crap...he now knows the scrutiny that is Nebraska football. He needed to remind the kids that this was a W.

No...Bo did not win enough. Don't re-write the past and start lowering expectations. Bo either won 9 or 10 games a year and it wasn't enough to keep his job. Nebraska football as we know it is dead if we start acting like Bo got enough W's. He didn't...plain and simple.

Stop acting like we are Iowa.

Yep agree, but...... how one looks in a win can give some insight to how they will perform in other games. So while yet it was a win, based on how they played the first for games, I wouldn't count on a whole lot more of them.

I feel that those who are pleased or satisfied with what they've seen so far this season ARE acting like Iowa fans.

Hell, maybe we'll even give Riley a massive raise to keep the teams that don't want him from luring him away. :(

Bo did not win enough of the big games. In fact, he was far too often made to look the fool by the teams performance and his tantrums, and that's why he is gone. He would still be here if it wasn't so painfully obvious that he didn't have what it took to get us a championship

I guess we can be pleased maybe 3 more times this year. This season is bankrupt otherwise.

I think the people who aren't running around doing their best chicken little are just realistic. With Bo I would have expected to drop the Miami game and the BYU would have been a toss up so 2-2 wouldn't be that surprising. We are woefully lacking in depth at key positions and it has been exposed through injuries.

At the end of the day we lost on a fluke hail mary to BYU, an int in overtime where the throw was there and missed. A few balls land different 4-0 in a noncon that wasn't glorified scrimmages week after week. Move forward and win the big ten games we need to get the west. Period.

Where did Riley say he was satisfied? Douches like you are looking for every chance to jump on anything Riley says and turn it into a negative. Part of Riley's job is to go into the locker room after a game like yesterday and to tell his guys that while they have lots of works to do to improve they won the game. You can't go off and scold every damn thing your guys are doing. It will crush the attitude of the team. You can bet your ass that Riley has been watching film since the end of the game to try and improve our team.

I don't think I got my point across clearly here. What I mean is, saying wins are enough is not good. We are 2-2 and barely beat a bad team, that's not okay even though we won. Bo absolutely did not win enough, but he did win at least 9 a year which is what kept him around so long and which is why some did not want him fired. Bo did not win big games and got blown out by teams, while barely beating or losing to inferior teams. I don't want that again! Which is essentially what I'm hearing from Riley. I'm not lowering expectations, I want to raise them higher than they were under Bo. I don't want us to fall into the "Oh but he wins more than he loses" trap again.

So, people can call others douches if it matches the agenda of the mods. Nice.

I don't understand why you people keep coming back and making up new screens if you hate this place so much? Seems pretty simple...if you hate the way this place is ran and don't like other posters on here why make a new screen name every week?

I get what your saying, 46 out of 52 years of winning 9+ games still is a big deal with me, but with the current events on injuries and lack of depth on defense you have to give Riley a pass this season he inherited a new team with different schemes of the previous staff too.

Coming back? I've been a member since 2002 with the same screen name, longer than you've been on here.

I've been lurking for awhile and finally decided to post more.

Any chance you will reconsider that decision?

We need to be pleased to win 7 games this year. The new Husker paradigm.
And this is drastically different than what we had before? Do you think that there is any meaningful difference between 9 wins and 7 wins? Neither team is relevant, especially when one or more of the losses (every year) are terribly embarrassing. If we end up with 7 wins, there will be plenty of blame to go around, not the least of which will go to the prior circus that (unbelievably) tried to run this thing for 7 years. What is vitally important is that recruiting and player development get better.
