Headed into the 2024 season, Tennessee had racked up 874 punt return yards and allowed only 23 total punt return yards during Ekeler’s tenure.During Ekeler's four years at Tennessee his STs have only allowed 24 yards in punt returns? Can that be right? IN FOUR YEARS?
Will Compton's buddy.great hire, glad Rhule didn't go for another rehash buddy hire
Some of that is the athletes. Maybe most of it is the athletes. This is a booster hire IMO but still a very good hire. He’s a very good coach and it might be a mistake to not have him in living rooms recruiting kids.Headed into the 2024 season, Tennessee had racked up 874 punt return yards and allowed only 23 total punt return yards during Ekeler’s tenure.
Be more than just himJust waiting on the Iowa putz to show up and tell us how bad be sucks. @19Football19 you're up.😂😒
It was written/posted on here that he had. Guess not always true news on hereI'm happy to see Ekeler coming back but also surprised because I had read earlier somewhere that he had resigned a contract with Tennessee. Must have been false news.

A couple of those staffs got fired, and a couple of times he moved up when he moved on. He's the real deal and will do great things with the NU special teams.I am very happy Ekeler is coming back to coach. He will surely be an upgrade over Grandpa Ed. My only question is why he has been at so many schools? I started with Nebraska because that was his first full-time coaching job besides coaching at Skutt High School and working as a GA. His longest tenure was at Tennessee.

A few of those were promotions which is an obvious reason to leave and then a lot of it is just movement with head coaches. Unless your head coach is around a long time, it's pretty normal for assistant coaches to move around every couple of years.I am very happy Ekeler is coming back to coach. I honestly think Frost was so arrogant and/or was intimidated by coaches who could expose him as a failure that's why he never tried to get the best. Why did it take Frost 4 years to not figure out that he had a bunch of G5 level coaches on staff and basically had to be ordered by the AD to fire some of them. He never figured it out and Mickey and Busch had to come in and clean up the mess.
The competitiveness of the B1G increased during Frost's tenure. I've looked back on depth charts during the Frost years and it's clear to me the problem was the team wasn't coached to give a consistent performance more so than the talent level was woeful.I honestly think Frost was so arrogant and/or was intimidated by coaches who could expose him as a failure that's why he never tried to get the best.
I agree, the problem has been the coaching more than the talent. The competitiveness of the B1G increased during Frost's tenure. I would say the most believable one, or the one that makes the most sense, was already floated in this thread… His contract at Tennessee wasn’t up until January 31. Now that his contract has ended, he signed with Nebraska. Did they have to wait? I don’t know… But that would make some sense I guess…Any rumors about why it took the rumor a few weeks to become reality?
strong recruiter????

Great questionBut is he bringing any players with him?
Jokes aside… super excited for this hire.

I think getting rid of Foley, and some of the pieces alone, will represent progress!Welcome back Coach Ekeler!
Here's to the hope Special Teams look 180° better next fall. 🍻
