Going to have to find away to get our best players on ST. That will be a battle between position coaches and the HC. If he doesn't get that accomplished. Accomplishing anything different than others in the past will be very difficult.
ST is more about players than schemes. But then again so is everything else.

Why did it take Rule 2 years to figure out that you can't have C- coaches here if you are actually going to try to win. Glad he is progressing in that manner.

I think Foley was a pretty good ST coach at previous stops if you look at the Temple, Baylor and Panthers stats. He just didn't work out here. Sometimes it is all about fit.

Pretty sure it was done for a while. There was a lot smoke shortly after Foley was let go. Ekelers Tennessee contract just expired on Friday. I am sure that was the only holdup on the announcement.
This is where it gets interesting…how long does Rhule keep Ekeler on the sideline focusing ONLY on special teams, and not out helping to recruit…
This is huge. We will likely have ST units that actually are a net positive in games.

Would be nice to get some punt/kick returns. Been since Pelini era when we did that kind of well.
Why did it take Frost 4 years to not figure out that he had a bunch of G5 level coaches on staff and basically had to be ordered by the AD to fire some of them. He never figured it out and Mickey and Busch had to come in and clean up the mess.
I'm happy to see Ekeler coming back but also surprised because I had read earlier somewhere that he had resigned a contract with Tennessee. Must have been false news.

During Ekeler's four years at Tennessee his STs have only allowed 24 yards in punt returns? Can that be right? IN FOUR YEARS?
Because it worked out for him previously. And yes he found out it’s not the same in the big ten as he had it in Big 12 and Big East or whatever Temple was in at that time
Torn on this one. On one hand, I think he’s probably great. On the other hand, feels a little more of the same stuck in the past hire crap we need to be getting away from
I get what you are saying. But he seemed to have done really well at Tennessee in that position. Seems to be highly thought of in recruiting. And it’s not like it’s a buddy hire for Rhule.
