Last Big 10 qb taken in the first round?

20 years ago...Kerry Collins.

Maybe one of the OSU guys will change that...but not all that impressed with the current crop. I wonder if the style of play hurts the draft stock of this conference's qbs.

Well 3 are projected to go in the 1st round round this year sooooo.....
Ignore him. He ripped our qb all yeat last year because of his feelings toward golden boy. Nevermind Armstrong had the best Sophomore season of any qb in school history. Tom will just continue his little troll act, and lie when called on things, or just ignore them. Quite the preacher.

I wonder how many teams now wish they drafted Russell Wilson and Tom Brady first round?
There are some that blossomed in the pros. Even Drew Brees ended up being a 2nd rounder. For a long time it may have been the style of play that held them back but they did well in the pros.

Brady was nothing special at Michigan...but Brees and Wilson did not play in a system that help them back. More like their size held them back. Unless you think Tillers spread offense held Brees back instead of going more pro style?

I think it did. It's like the Texas Tech qbs or the Houston qbs way back in the day. I think there gets to be a knock on guys for being "system guys."

Cook is being helped because MSU runs somewhat of a pro-style offense...PSU has done that too with Hackenburg.

Brady got drafted in the right round. Basically, Brady is a good qb playing on a great team for a great coach. Also Brady is a major sleaze and the biggest punk-bitch In the league

Best sophomore season in school history under what metric? Better than Gill's? They played for the national championship. Frazier? They played for the national championship. Crouch? They went 12-1 and probably was the best team in the country.

It probably did hurt Brees in that he was strictly a shotgun QB.
Tom watched Ruddock and then can't believe how bad B1G 10 QBs have been? Okidokee. QB is not an easy position to recruit or develop. From there, the guys that actually have what it takes are so few and far between in ANY conference. The guy that was too small, slow or weak coming out of high school grows 2 inches, adds 25 lbs and develops a fastball so we end up with QBs from Directional U in the NFL. Just the way it is. So much of it is what goes on between the ears and you really don't know in 99% of the cases how that is all going to pan out especially given the diversity of systems and coaching guys get thrown in to. THAT is one of the reasons I feel better about our QB coaching situation and QB situation at NU right now. QB play is affected by sooooo many variables that you had better have a good college QB coach that knows what he's doing. We have that now IMO. One good thing about tipping your QB scales towards an athlete for college teams is that is always going to be there to maybe make up for some of the mental or arm deficiencies. TO did that and then drilled the option game in to them and took most of the decisions in the passing game away from them.

I wonder if Hack may break the trend?
There's a couple of guys already on rosters from the B1G that are having some success. Heck just making a roster is a big deal. Most franchise QBs other than guys like Luck don't seem to end up being the guys everybody thought were going to be "the man" when they were drafted. Brady, Brees, Big Ben, Wilson, Rodgers, etc etc etc. TTom lamenting the B1G's QBs is laughable because nobody knows until a guy is faced with a couple of all pro DEs smacking him around how they are going to do in the NFL. You recruit college QBs to play college football. You don't worry about if they'll play on Sundays.
