Was there ever an explanation as to why we were a 5 seed?

Not that it matters too much, because it is the NIT, but I was curious if Nebraska ever got an explanation. I was hoping that someone from our local media would seek out an explanation and maybe they did and I just missed it. The whole thing is just strange.
