Was the effort good enough this week?

When I saw UCLAs offense last week I knew there would problems. The defense cannot carry this team, period. The offense is a cluster **** with no rhyme nor reason in play calling and in execution. There is zero cohesion and the left hand has no idea what the right hand is doing. DR is completely lost right now and in over his head. Play calling is feeding him to the wolves and now that there is video of him not knowing what to do under pressure and not being able to throw against man coverage, this what you get. The last three games will not be pretty...

I agree with the OP's assessment other than "The last three games will not be pretty..."

If this team can rekindle what they had against tOSU in just one remaining game... it would be just like this team to knock off USC.

Obviously a lot of negatives, but the D did make adjustments. Satt's play calling made no sense again, he burned several minutes off the clock in the 2nd half by not running no huddle, he wasted opportunities and we lost again because of it. Faults on the D for sure, but Satterfield lost this game. IF the next OC is our current qb coach then fire satt on Monday. If he isn't it's time to open the pocketbook for a legit top 5 OC.

Lots of people super jazzed about the team last week because of effort despite the L. How was it this week? Was the effort good enough to still be excited? Just want to know so I can gauge how I should feel after another L.
I wasn't ok with it last week or this week. Frankly, we have not played a good game all year. Last week was the most complete game but it was still a loss

Perhaps playing OSU close gave us some false hope. The Bucks seemed disinterested last week. Today they played more like well.. Ohio State. You could see the fire unlike against us.

I didn’t stay at a Holiday Inn or anything like that but, I don’t think you genuinely want serious answers to these questions? I can usually pick up on these things…

Yes. OSU overlooked us. That is the kind of program we now are. The team you schedule for a probable win on homecoming. Nobody fears us and none of the elite teams view a game against us as anything more challenging than playing Rutgers. And Rhule will not change that reality.

Horseshit, paid adults act like it. More excuses
I meant it more as a jab and agree 100%. There are only 12 regular season games each year. Maybe 2-3 a team will face better talented rosters. 2 should be gimmes. 7-8 you are facing equal talent. The Nebraska program has been lazy, lackadaisical, underachieving, sloppy, weak for 10 years at least!

Maybe this is symptomatic of our culture. I rarely see the bat shit crazy burning desire to win, anywhere.

There are a lot of talented people in the world. I just don’t think it matches up with maximum effort. People get too caught up in the pageantry and all the BS it goes with it. It’s hard to convince them to embrace the grind. Folks are more worried about how comfortable the chair is by their locker and if the lighting is good enough for Instagram later. Win or lose, we eat steak.

Ohio State should’ve been looking to make a statement against us. They mailed it in. That’s not what championship teams do.

Percentage wise based on point spreads, NU should win one of the remaining three games with a decent shot at winning two. But we know how this team operates. They do not get better when the going gets tough. Lose at USC and the pressure amps up, and the Wisconsin game becomes twice as hard to win.

Sounds juvenile. But the staff should make a bet with the players. Team leaders can shave their heads if they win at USC. Take some pressure off. Make it fun. They can beat USC, but everyone will have to be as focused as they were at Ohio State. USC can be run on plus they have two weeks to scheme up some things to contend with the blitzes they are seeing.

Reminds me of an interesting quote years ago when I was doing some research:

"Most people work far below what they are capable of."

Not serious, just acting a little like an enormous douche bag towards those from last week who weren’t too bothered by yet another loss.

I read this article a couple of years ago that I wish I’d saved. The author made a pretty good argument that 80% of the jobs in this country are completely BS and shouldn’t exist. Kind of a massive bureaucratic state, everywhere. They add nothing, but suck up plenty of resources. really changed the way I look at the world.

I like different points of view. I would enjoy reading that. I did read that on average every new administrative position at any company creates a need for two more employees.

Sadly satt will be Rhules cosgrove his ship will sink and we’ll have a new coach in 2026 Rhule will get one more year unless the bottom falls out next season then he’ll be gone in the season of 25

I will never understand the mindset of head coaches who’ll bench a player for underachieving without a second thought, yet adamantly refuse to dismiss a staff member whose performance is undermining everything the team is trying to do.

Loyalty IS important, but if you’re the head coach, your loyalty should be to the players in the program first and foremost and the school that pays your salary.

There is a real chance that Satt’s incompetence could derail a 5-star quarterback’s career (which is always the danger in starting a freshman quarterback when he’s not quite ready). If Rhule takes a clearheaded look at the situation and chooses a buddy over a kid’s future—a kid who trusted him enough to turn down far better offers in order to come to Lincoln—then that will tell me everything I need to know about him.

I find this to be an extreme cop-out answer. These are upper tier athletes who have focused on winning and excelling most their lives. If they're fragile they shouldn't be playing what is essentially semi-pro football.
Focused on winning. LOL.

A 22 year old in his 5th season at NU has spent more than 20% of his life being a LOSER

I guess you missed my following post…

Basically…
“…I meant it more as a jab and agree 100%. There are only 12 regular season games each year. Of those 12, Maybe in 2-3 games a team will face rosters with more talent. Then 2 should be gimmes. In 7-8 games you are facing equal talent. The Nebraska program has been lazy, lackadaisical, underachieving, sloppy, weak for 10 years at least! No reason at the very least 6-7 wins would be attainable. Nebraska have simply underachieved for 10 years. No other way to put it how much they’ve stunk!…”
