Walker is our 17th recruit!

I agree. This is the type of kid we had back in the 90's. It comes down to talent AND development. He has the talent. Reminds me of Sirles back when he came in.

On a side note, if people wonder why few outside schools recruit Nebraska, think about how discouraged Craig Bohl has to be right now. It's tough to put so much time in on someone only to lose them when the big home state school comes along.

Hasn't bothered Iowa much over the past few years. Iowa State was a former frequent visitor along with Ohio now.

Welcome aboard young man, happy for you to see your hard work and dream of playing for Nebraska pay off. Congratulations, now the work really begins in the classroom and on the field.

I feel bad for him to and we've had it happen enough to us to know how it feels.

Correct. Luckily we were on the right side of it this time!

I would guess that quite a few schools out there have had someone do this to them.

Sucks when the big in-state school offers. I hope Wyoming's fans don't think that Bohl didn't try to recruit him hard enough to get Walker.

"I did not grow up wanting to play there (Wyoming). My dream has always been to play for Nebraska."

Hard to compete against a dream like that. Lucky for us that he was willing to switch his commitment.

Welcome aboard! GBR!

Add Central Florida to the mix, UCLA comes in frequently... but not too many more. Just schools in close proximity or schools with someone who has a past in the state.

This year the state has around 10 legit prospects. Not can't miss or plug and play guys, but good prospects none the less. But if you are a Colorado, Wisconsin or a Missouri, for instance, why bother spending too much time in-state when you can go elsewhere and have a better chance with typically more prospects to go after? If I were Mizzou, I wouldn't put resources into Nebraska either, but that doesn't mean that this state is lacking for talent. As Tom Osborne used to say, these in-state prospects would have many more offers if they were in Texas or Florida. I believe that and I know Brock Bando agrees with that 100%.

IMO this kid should've had an offer from day 1. You have something like this growin in your back yard you take it!

th

Hopefully he goes full on Chuck Norris after a couple of years at the training table, working with the line coaches, and being pushed by Coach Phillip.

But I hope that for all of the Big Nasties!

I assume the staff evaluated him fairly and he was plan B on the board it seems. Offering him from Day 1 means we are not going for prospects who are objectively rated higher in some combination of size, strength and athleticism. From what we know about the kid, he will play with violence, and likes the weight room. He could develop into a very good lineman. But he ended up in the plan B pile on our recruiting board this year.

Watching his film it's almost like he's so much taller than everybody he blocks it feels like he's thinking such I knock him down or just step over him?
