Some of these kids are lower ranked kids. Most have nice offer lists, but they may not have been fully commitable offers. So they had to wait and see how classes shake out before they decide. The new system seems like it benefits kids like this more than the old system.

There has always been a lot of visits in January for whatever reason.

You would think with the new early signing period that these visits would drop quite a bit, but maybe with this being the first year of it, the January visits will decrease as the years go by.

On the other hand, when your football season goes into late November, you might not have a lot of chances for visits. It probably compounds this issue when the recruit didn’t explode onto the scene until their senior year.

Some people, like myself, are procrastinators. They will wait as long as they can before finally making a decision that will affect the rest of their lives. Some prospects would probably wait until May if they had a late signing period.

I agree with this...and then to add on to the non-commitable offer, each school only has so many official visits they can allow (I think we are starting to get close to our limit), so they won’t let just anyone come to campus for a paid trip.

My question is, why have most of these kids waited until now to take visits? We are either the only visit listed or the first visit with maybe one other school coming later. Why did they wait? Is it grades?
Most have a pretty good list of offers.

I suspect they are waiting for the utterly brutal weather to kick in. ...like it in January, and you're sure to like it the rest of the year.

This is great, but I wish we could get some true corners in here for a visit. All these safety prospects lead me to believe the pickins are slim on that front, or the prospects not interested.

I updated the original post to add the new visits we have learned about.

@GretnaShawn @TwinsRRUs Do you like these targets? Do we know what ATH Miles Jones is projected to play?

Hopefully we add some CBs to this list soon.

From what I can tell, he is listed as a WR on one site and played RB according to his Hudl.

At 5'8" 163# or 5'9 170# (depending on site), I would venture to say WR at Nebraska, but with this offense and watching how it works and where the passes and hand-offs are given to, I would think he would definitely be a candidate for a WR position that motions into the backfield pre-snap to take the hand off as a RB at times.

From watching his Hudl film, he looks elusive and fast. (I hope they didn't really give him a TD for the kick return from the 1:20 - 1:35 mark in that Hudl video as his elbow and knee both touched the ground. lol)

As far as CBs go, where he is following Coach Walters on Twitter and not Fisher or Chinander (although his is following DeWitt), I am guessing we are looking at him on offense and not defense.

Do I like him? Sure :) He looks like a good athlete/recruit to have on our team.

Some of the players are very highly rated, but almost all of them have nice offer lists. Which is nice to see. I do not know much about any one of them.

The lowest rated players are the OL, which doesn't concern me a whole lot because OL are really hard to project and I have no idea the type of OL that this offense needs. I assume the huge road graders (look at the Dulap kid that Minnesota pulled this year) aren't the body types they're looking for. I am betting they want some kids that can play in space. That is purely an assumption though.

Zach Wiegert was only a three star and won the Outland.
