The boys are just getting ready to land in Lincoln after a trip to D.C. to visit the mall, and the Vietnam memorial. 2 of my Uncles are on the planes of almost 700 native Nebraskans to visit today. Neither has been there to see the mall.

This is the biggest group of veterans from any single state to visit at one time.

There are thousands of people out at the LNK airport to greet them.

Thank you vets, and I encourage people to give to the honor flight fund so the nation can give back in a small way, after they sacrificed so much.

Please keep politics, and the trashing of the military comments out of this. This is simply a cool deal.

Saw that in Lincoln paper. Those are cool. Been to the Vietnam memorial in DC. It's amazing to see and I didn't even serve. Can't imagine for those that did.

Very cool. My Dad is a Vietnam Vet.
My old man served during the conflict, but was stationed in Alaska working on tanks. To this day he has not stepped foot back in a tent, even recreationally. 3 of the 4 brothers served at that time.

My uncle did three tours in Nam. Bronze Star/Purple Heart. Also, have a gentleman in the neighborhood that I've befriended. He's got a purple heart as well. Came over last week to help me work on my car. Found out he was a certified mechanic. Wondered why he kept getting hacked when I questioned his knowledge. :D

I was lucky enough to accompany my grandfather on the honor flight for Korean War Veterans back in 2014. What a wonderful trip full of memories that I will forever cherish. If you ever have a chance to be a part of any of these events I highly recommend it whether with a relative or not.

My wife volunteered for this over the weekend. She helped with getting everyone registered and checked in Sat and Sun at the hotel. Yesterday she spent the day with the family members who were in town but not able to go to DC. They went to the Omaha zoo and to a winery. Then they went to the airport to greet the plane at the airport. Yesterday was a long day for everyone involved.

Yeah it looked like it. Props to your old lady. Tell her thanks!

We were in DC last year when they did the honor flight from Nebraska. We were headed to our son's graduation from army basic combat training. We met a couple from Omaha who happened to be out there too. They found out about the group coming to DC and changed their itinerary so they could help welcome them to DC. I wish we could have done that too but our schedule wasn't flexible. My hats off to all those that make this possible. Such a cool deal.
