I know there are people on here that deal with this frequently so I thought I'd ask.

I have been interviewing with a company for the last couple weeks and was just notified by the recruiter today that they are going make an offer. I spoke with the same recruiter initially in a screening interview and he let me know the salary range for this position. In speaking with him today he reaffirmed this same range. Because of my experience and background, I was planning on trying to negotiate for a higher salary. Not a huge amount - 4-5k more than the top end of their range even though my experience says I should earn more but this is a good opportunity with a good company. My question is, should I still try to negotiate given the fact that the recruiter has been very transparent in what they expect to provide for salary for this position? I just wonder if doing so could backfire.

Thanks for your help
