When Herman said that I cringed. It's like coaches want as long of a honeymoon as possible so they go to the "we have a lack of talent here" card so people say, "They need at least five years." Good on Urban for calling this out.
i admire Urban for saying this, and no doubt it was a mentality that helped his team go undefeated his first year at Ohio State.
At the same time, I don't think it's as black and white as all that. Whether people want to admit it or not, Riley's first year here had players that didn't consider themselves Mike's players. And I'm sure it's true of a lot of other places as well.
The sin here was Herman actually saying this out loud. Not sure what he was thinking.
Would an AD answering a question about the talent level of a program, at a press conference firing a coach, be in the same vein? Asking for a friend

Did your momma say, "If you get kicked off of a Husker message board, come back as your wife"?My momma never said, "If you ain't got nothing good to say, just start lying."
Hmm, sounds like a transgender situation. Probably won't play well down there in the Bible Belt.Did your momma say, "If you get kicked off of a Husker message board, come back as your wife"?
From the mouth of babes....My momma never said, "If you ain't got nothing good to say, just start lying."
Sooners 45-@ holes-7 what'll he say then. Probably just smileMy momma never said, "If you ain't got nothing good to say, just start lying."
Depends if in less than a year that same AD starts giving heretofore verboten in-season interviews to offer public support, even though 90% of the feedback said AD was getting was positive already; or suddenly goes silent about whether merely beating Iowa is a job expectation for the NU coach.Would an AD answering a question about the talent level of a program, at a press conference firing a coach, be in the same vein? Is "fairy dust slang for steroids? If so then Osborne would need to enter the conversation. Not sure I follow. The discussion is about coaches, or other members of the administration, blaming talent level or having "fairy dust" to sprinkle.
Why do you feel a need to take a shot at the individual who is most responsible for the success of this program every chance you can get?Is "fairy dust slang for steroids? If so then Osborne would need to enter the conversation.
How is that a shot? Why do you feel a need to take a shot at the individual who is most responsible for the success of this program every chance you can get?
Probably because he offense has not been quite as good since Herman left and that has cost them some games. Its not that Urban is wrong, its just weird that he actually said it. There must be some real bad blood between these two
