  1. Friday Update:

    • No change in the thought of increasing confidence and concern in rain impacting the game Saturday evening in Lincoln. Best chances for rain will be Saturday night. The exact timing is still in question. It's an 80+ percent chance of rain at some point between Saturday late-afternoon/early-evening and Sunday morning.

It's going to be a very stormy, wet period ahead. For at least a week. Probably a chance of rain on each day. And most days will have some rain. Some days may have a lot. Flooding may become a concern.

Pregame (Saturday afternoon): Warm and humid. Slight chance of a scattered shower or thunderstorm -- but it appears most (or all) will hold off until after sunset. High Saturday afternoon near 87 degrees. If the sun peeks out a bit more, 88-90 is possible. If it remains overcast, 85 degrees. I won't say zero percent chance of rain Saturday afternoon (or really, at any point over the next week). You may as well just have a poncho/rain gear with you always for at least another week.

Kickoff (7PM Saturday): 82°. Mostly cloudy. 30% Chance of a scattered shower or thunderstorm. Wind less than 10 MPH.

Halftime: 79°. Mostly cloudy. 40% chance of a showers and thunderstorms. Wind southeast at 8-10 MPH.

4th Quarter: 77°. Mostly cloudy. 60% chance of showers and thunderstorms. Wind southeast at 8-10 MPH.

Postgame (Saturday night): 60-80% chance of Increasing rain and thunderstorms. Temperatures generally in the 70s.

Same general theme as I've been expressing this week. Chances for rain increase as the night and game progresses. It's very likely it will rain at some point (probably an extended period) between Saturday evening (before sunset) and Sunday morning. There could be quite a bit of rain. And yes, lightning is possible, which would result in game delays. Flooding may be a concern overnight.

IF we get a bit lucky, the bulk of the rain holds off until closer to midnight Saturday night. Yes, that's possible -- I just wouldn't count on it. It's at least as possible that there's rain in the area at kickoff.

Considering it's raining today, and the ground is saturated, there could very well be flooding issues tomorrow night -- especially in the postgame.

Go to the game with rain gear on or ready. Again, maybe it'll hold until after the game -- but don't cross your fingers until they turn blue (or red).
