Nebraska hosted a 7-foot center from Argentina on an official visit earlier this week in Francisco Caffaro. He was in Lincoln from Sunday to Tuesday.

From what I’ve heard the visit went as well as could be expected, and now Caffaro is on his way to visit Georgia Tech, and then will visit Saint Mary’s before making a decision.

Caffaro, who will turn 18 in May, has been playing with the NBA Global Academy team in Australia. In his first two games, he averaged 26.5 points and 10.5 rebounds.

He’s a very slender 7 feet, as his weight is listed anywhere from 205-220 depending on the source. So he’s more of a forward/center than a traditional center.

Caffaro also visited Pittsburgh back in February, but that was with the Panthers’ previous coaching staff that has since been fired. Oregon also offered in the fall.

Caffaro was initially going to be a 2019 recruit, but he recently reclassified to 2018 and would be eligible this coming season as a freshman.

I’ve heard the feeling is that it will probably come down to Nebraska and St. Mary’s for his final decision.
