I went to the Arizona St game last Saturday. What an exciting game that was. Arizona St was the better team but UNO goalie was fire

I'm a huge North Dakota hockey fan. I guess that makes me a Hawksker (and formerly a Fighting Siouxsker).

Don't really care for UNO but makes it interesting when they are playing.

Short story- I went to a UNO vs UND hockey game a few years ago. UNO won and it was fun.

However, the best memory was all the UND fans who were there and 80% of them were wearing FIGHTING SIOUX gear. I loved it. Wish they would end the woke madness and bring back the real mascot.

There was some hockey thing in Vegas when I was there one time with North Dakota in it. I think half the state was there.

UND has to produce a certain amount of gear with the old Sioux logo on it or the school will forfeit its trademark and the logo would become public domain. So they make a limited number of "Sioux" items every year. Those always sell out first.

I am of the opinion that the Native Americans should decide if they are or are not insulted by being a mascot. There are three reservations either wholly or partially in the state of North Dakota, and they were allowed to vote on whether they wanted the mascot. All three had to be in favor or the mascot had to be changed. The first two tribes put it to a vote of the people. To the surprise of many, those two tribes voted in favor of the nickname (which should not have been a surprise; if you go to the reservations, many little kids and plenty of adults are wearing "Fighting Sioux" gear). The third res, which had been on record as opposing the nickname, refused to allow a popular vote. The tribal council voted against the nickname, therefore, it had to be changed as only two of the three approved it.
