Who was it that called me out for saying OU was underated team that nobody was talking about?? What say you now?
Good team - can’t help wondering how much better they could be with Heinrich Haarberg at QB…

I guess if you don't remember who it's not really all that important to you.Who was it that called me out for saying OU was underated team that nobody was talking about?? What say you now?
We already had one -- Noah VedralLet's get us a UCF qb.
He actually did pretty well his freshman year there but didn't play much. In his second year here he had a 65 percent completion pct. and a fairly high qb rating. We already had one -- Noah Vedral
how about a different ol coachDillon Gabriel had 113 yards rushing and a TD.
Imagine if he could actually throw the football.
Yea all we need is an elite QB and OL like OULook at what Venables is doing in year 2 after a very rough year 1.
I’m betting year 2 for Rhule will be a lot better than year 1 too.
I mean, according to 247 sports, his 2023 signed class was ranked #6 in the nation and his 2024 class of verbal commits is currently ranked #7 in the nation. I’d say his recruiting is pretty good.Let’s see how venibles does with his own recruits In the SEC in a couple of years, I personally don’t think he’s that good but I’ve been wrong before

Venables has a lot more to work with than Rhule. OU’s more recent success is much easier to recruit to than 5 losing seasons in a row….or was it 6.Look at what Venables is doing in year 2 after a very rough year 1.

OU’s program has been winning for over 20 years. NU has had a losing record 6 of the past 7 years. The programs are at very different levels. The last time NU was competitive with OU, TMart was QB and NU was still in the Big XII.Venables has a lot more to work with than Rhule. I still think Venables is going to be similar to Solich at OU....heck even Frank had a monster year 2, we all figured 1998 was the outlier...it will take a few more years until we know for sure, but I think OU will be on the downswing over the next few years.
We'd have W. Rouse right now if we'd paid him...Yea all we need is an elite QB and OL like OU
Frank left the cupboard bare, very quickly. Can't even compare the two. Would take Venables in a heartbeat. He's been surrounded by NFL talent for some time. What were Frank's first three recruiting classes ranked? Venables are 8, 6 and 6 (right now for 2024). He's actually outperforming Lincoln Riley's recruiting classes so far, with the main difference being the balance between elite offensive and defensive players.
Big 12the sec is top heavy just like the other leagues. ou and texas will join the elite over there when they arrive.
i'm not sure which league's bottom is worse this year, the b10 or b12? northwestern v. houston. iowa state v. illinois.
or the middle: N v. k-state.
or which top is best? ou v. michigan. texas v. ohio state.
maybe we will get to see later in the year. cfp or bowl game matchups might tell us. there's a lot of parity this season, that's clear.
some similarities at qb for sure.I still think Venables is going to be similar to Solich at OU....heck even Frank had a monster year 2, we all figured 1998 was the outlier...it will take a few more years until we know for sure, but I think OU will be on the downswing over the next few years.
texas just beat alabama, manhandled them actually. and last year bama escaped austin with a win after texas lost their starting qb.they'll perpetually get their shit pushed in by Georgia & Alabama.
even the middle-tier SEC teams have talent levels that few Big 12 teams have. teams like Iowa State & TCU would be Vanderbilt in the SEC.
weak Alabama team this year. typical Texas team that rallies the troops for a few games (see: their 2019 game against LSU) then goes soft against the rest.texas just beat alabama, manhandled them actually. and last year bama escaped austin with a win after texas lost their starting qb.
both ou and texas will compete for championship over there in the sec.
furthermore, tcu beat your b10 champions last year in the cfp, michigan. good grief, you made a horrible post, mr. thall.
all your rationalizations are noteworthy but scoreboard rules.weak Alabama team this year. typical Texas team that rallies the troops for a few games (see: their 2019 game against LSU) then goes soft against the rest.
what does Michigan have to do with anything? are you saying the TCU team that was middling before last year and is currently 3-3 is the same team that beat Michigan?

Just an elite OL would do wonders around here. Been so long I’ve forgotten what one looks like!Yea all we need is an elite QB and OL like OU
Where will the Texas teams be when oil isn't the cash cow in the future?
We'd be infinitely better too if we had him. He has looked pretty damn good so far and we wouldn't be dealing with the Bull Fighter at LT right now making an OLE!!!! Every single play. We'd have W. Rouse right now if we'd paid him...
OU still had a top 10 talent composite last year, so I'm not super impressed that Venables took over a loaded team and kept it running.
they wouldn't even be the 2nd best team in the B1G/Pacvenables just beat what many thought was the second best team in the country on a neutral field. he's done a great job this year. interestingly, his wife has cancer, so he's carrying that load as well.
we saw the mighty b10's michigan last year get beat by the b12's second place team in the cfp. try harder.they wouldn't even be the 2nd best team in the B1G/Pac
texas would kill everyone in the B1Gthey wouldn't even be the 2nd best team in the B1G/Pac
