Has anyone else noticed that UCF fans are very similar to Iowa fans. No great accomplishment, they have 1 good season every 20 years and they come out in droves claiming what a top tier program they are. Iowa is at least in a power 5 conf so I can somewhat see their point. UCF is a nobody in a conference I didn't even know existed till Frost started coaching there. They will go back to being a nobody once he leaves.

I don't see it. UCF has been to the same number of BCS bowl games that Nebraska has this century.
Not about 17 years. It is about looking at the whole picture. Looking at what a program has accomplished over its history and compared to other national powers. Of course we are horrible right now. That still doesn't take away anything from our past.

I'll go way out on a limb and say that if the measuring stick is the handful of fans who troll on other teams' message boards, pretty much any fan base will look like a band of empty-headed dimwits.
DING DING! Its all in fun. No insults no profanity, just enjoying the banter. Just giving you a break from Big 10 visitors

Wow. The attitude is bad.

I would do a lot of things to get Frost back here, which include...

1. Beg
2. Plead
3. Stop dogging your current fanbase

Iowa's had 3 top ten finishes and 2 B1G Titles under KF, who is in his 19th year. And that does not include the undefeated regular season and West Title from two years ago. You may be exaggerating a little.

NO! You are wrong, they are closer to Misery always has been, and How Boise St used to be before reality sunk in.

That’s what I was thinking. Iowa fans remind me of Missouri and KSU fans. Little brother syndrome, obseed, irrational hatred. UCF is much more like the Georgia or South Carolina fans we’ve had visit, after they were pissed about a Bowl Game or a comment a coach made.

Being compared to Iowa when UCF has been playing FBS football for barely 20 years? And in total for less than 40? Not bad. Wiki says Iowa has been playing since 1888.

But UCF has had five ten win seasons since 2007. Not horrible, but not the best either.

That’s exactly what it is “our past” and it’s getting dimmer all the time. A lot of programs can say the same thing, depends how far back you want to go. We desperately need to get this hire right.

Not sure lets see:

Misery = UCF? - obnoxious - believes football only started as soon as they became good anything before that doesnt count
KSU = UCF? - same blind hatred and irrational thought patterns however I think KSU is a little more cultish. Also KSU believes they are good even when they suck I think UCF realizes when they suck
CU =UCF? - never been to a UCF game so kinda hard to tell if they throw poop and urine and stuff if they do then they match up pretty well. Also both fan bases have a very tough time filling small stadiums and both seem to be rather impressed with where they live as if that makes them smarter or wealthier or they are personally responsible for mountains and an ocean

Iowa - no comparison in my mind

I vote Misery - both highly delusional fan bases - both seem to believe football tradition only counts for five years or so or whatever time period matches up to them doing well. They both are very angry fans also. The posters seem to have that Hatfield vs Mccoy mentality also

Somebody was courting my girlfriend I would be pissed to.Just an example not literally. :)

UCF has been playing FBS since 1996. Ironically, that is about the time you guys stopped being relevant.

I doubt anybody from UCF has been here claiming to be "big time". Most claim to be "on the rise" because we are. We are the youngest team EVER to win a BCS bowl game. We have several conference championships already and hopefully on the verge of another. UCF is now the highest rated G5 team this late in the CFP poll ever.

Obviously, UCF cannot match the history of Nebraska. You won't find any sober fans that think that. However, if you compare OUR history, which is the last 20 years, with your last 20 years, well .... we aren't that far off.

Iowa fan most like misery fan. As bad as Nebraska has been, Nebraska still has a higher average divisional finish then Iowa since 2011 and with a win Friday (although I personally don’t see Nebraska winning) Nebraska would finish above Iowa again. Additionally, KF still needs to win 3 straight to have a winning record against Nebraska while he’s been coach.
Most Nebraska fans I know have a respect for what Iowa football is and has been under both Fry and KF, unfortunately that respect is not reciprocated by most Iowa fans.

I don’t think we are in any position to stick our nose in the air..

Can you blame them? Imagine a fan base invading your message boards, social media, even football games and everyone considers it a foregone conclusion your prize coach is going to leave you.

I would be a little salty towards that particular fan base as well.

That happens with every program and in every sport. You also have people who come out of the wood work and say they have been UCF fans forever. BullShirt! Same thing happen last year with the Cubs in the World Series.

With that said UCF has produced some players into the League and they have has some success in their conference.

Im an Iowa fan and respect the hell out of Nebraskas history. The issue is more threads like this that seem petty and ill-conceived. OP is complaining about Iowa fans while starting a temper throwing thread. Kind of ironic yes?

They're just worried because their coach is going to head out soon for a P5 job. I'm sure we would feel the same way if we were in their position.

We'll get a better coach. It's more of a disruption since our entire squad is returning next season.

Great, nice to hear from you.

Doesn’t matter when a program starts or how far back. When your comparing programs history to each others, you do just that. You don’t cut it off to favor you team before said season. UCF will never equal Huskers overall football program. They will be losing Frost after this season, so there luck may have just ran out. I don’t see another big time coach going there. They could how ever get lucky and hit it big again with there next HC, but that’s unlikely. How often does a new HC pan out like this? So enjoy it now UCF, because you won’t have Frost after this season.

There is a line of coaches that want to come to UCF. Either it is a job that produces bad coaches or one that lands coaches $5 million/year gigs. Pick one.

Points pretty clearly to your recent lack of success (and lack of relevance) when you there's a legitimate argument as to who has been more successful this century and who has a better program currently; UNL or UCF.
