Two Favorite Nebraska Bowl Wins (National Champions Excluded)

Not Nebraska but since it's an excellent question I'll post mine as a Michigan fan.

2000 Orange Bowl vs Alabama. Alabama dominated Florida in the SEC championship game and many of their fans thought they should be playing for the MNC rather than playing 3rd place Big10 Michigan. Tom Brady brought Michigan back from 14 point deficits twice for Michigan's first ever overtime victory. Michigan's defense absolutely mauled Alabama's QBs.

2008 Cap1 Bowl vs Florida. Unranked Michigan played 12th ranked Florida in what was essentially a home game for the Gators. Michigan generated 524 yards of offense and the only thing that kept the Gators in the game was 4 turnovers 2 of which were on the 1 yard line. They were tossing Tebow around like a rag doll by the end of that one.

Go Blue!

Rember that game well...That would be the game that Alabama was flat out robbed. Something like 20 penalties for a 150 yards and still had to miss a PAT in OT for Michigan to win. Congrats

Nah, Alabama got their asses beat in a tough game. Man up crybaby. Their O-line was holding every play in the 4th quarter and still couldn't keep Michigan off their QBs. Alabama had 18 penalties for 132 yards. Michigan had 10 penalties for 115.

If the SEC champ can't beat the 3rd place team from the Big10 because their kicking game sucks then too bad for them.

Go Blue!

Yea, straight up screw job. Carry on....

1997 Orange Bowl vs V-Tech. Entertaining game with Jason Peter getting the td and then giving his brother Christian the business on the sideline afterwards. Of greater importance, the way Frost played in the second half set the tone for the way he and the team would play in 1997, I predicted to those who would listen that Nebraska would win the NC. And Damon Benning was gashing the Hokies the whole second half.

1994 Orange Bowl in what very well could have been, but a valiant effort by the Huskers that fell just short. The better team lost that evening.

I am glad you didn’t require bowl games attended. I saw Nebraska lose to Florida State in the 1990 Fiesta Bowl and lose in the 1993 Orange Bowl to Florida State. :(

1980 Sun Bowl. I attended as a 12 year old. Don’t really remember it being that remarkable a game but it was my 1st bowl trip. We defended Mississippi State. I think Jackie Sherill was their coach at the time.

was there as well. The Mississippi St coach was Emory Bellard. Pretty sure he invented the wishbone.

i know were talking wins here, but that ob loss vs fsu in 93, set some things in motion.

I was just happy to have survived Y2K.

1973 drubbing of Notre Dame was a good one but I would say the 1969 Sun Bowl win over Georgia was my favorite, the win that started it all in my opinion.

I’d agree I remember it was on my birthday and remember scoring as many points as the other team earlier that morning in Youth Basketball game..

That bowl game was a sign that Nebraska football was on it’s way doing something special in College Football..

Number 1 for me would be the 1977 Liberty Bowl win over North Carolina. Overall it was a very entertaining football game. Number 2 is a toss up between 1974 Cotton Bowl win over Texas, 1974 Sugar Bowl win over Florida or the 1983 Orange Bowl win over LSU. I barely remember any of the bowl games Nebraska has played in the last 20 years, but the games played in the 1960's, 70's and 80's I remember them like they were yesterday.
The 1977 game almost cost me a Loong term freeze out from my wife... I screamed at the tv and my wife of two years slammed the bedroom door at halftime
