HEY BROTHER(S)!
ALLOT has happened since we last (pre)chatted, both on a personal and Scroll level. Mrs. Carvallo and I welcomed our second little Scroller into the world on Dec 14th. Another strapping boy like his brother before him, he'll be Scrolling before we know it.
As for the Scrolls, we'll start with the bad news...
While we stayed home and partook in another bowlless season, our most bitter of B1G West foes shined bright on the big stage. MINN rowed the boat all over Auburn, IOWA stomped the blue blood out of USC to the tune of 49-24 and WISC beat the crap out of Oregon in every category but the scoreboard and a VERY Un-WISC 4-turnover performance resulted in a 1pt loss.
By the way, DONU finds itself looking up at Iowa and Wisc in 2021 recruiting as well, which I illustrated in yesterday's column. Further, it looks like local boy Avante Dickerson will be this year's Trevor Robinson, Harrison Phillips, or Xavier Watts. DONU has ALLOT of ground to make up on this one to keep the top player in the state away from our old #moneyteam friend in Oregon or worse yet tOSU.
DONU is also in the market for at least one new assistant to replace maligned ST/OLB coach Jovan Dewitt, who left for greener pastures in the sand hills of North Carolina. Scroller trepidation looms large over potential buddy rehire in Mike Dawson.
And what of Troy Walters? @Lowman311 started this 6-pager yesterday evening. @Sean Callahan spent some time with Doug Duda and Jimmy Langin yesterday on the Doug and Daddy show out of Kearney, NE and he indicated another change was coming. Scrollers took out the old Jump to Conclusions mat and the controversial WR coach/OC was the logical choice to kick to the curb. As one would guess, at this point the Scrolls assumed the worst and that TW would certainly be replace by and inexperienced buddy of HCSF who can't coach, develop or recruit at the levels we've seen of late out of Iowa, Wisc and Minn.
And now for the good news...
