Trying to post gif

Cant seem to post a gif, I see the gif in the create a post but then when you preview it, it shows the X. What do I need to do to get this to work?
I just googled 'Husker animated gif' and clicked on the first one there was, then clicked view image.
Once it opened up the image, I copied the URL at the top of the window and pasted it in the image spot on this.

I have had a lot of issues trying to post pictures from imgur or from google images after clicking view image.
In the past, I could search for an image on google images, click on it and click view image. Then copy the url and paste it here by using the picture icon.
Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't, which makes me think that some images are either blocked by their owner and cannot be used, or the image url is just not compatible with this website's picture format.
When using imgur, it gives me the option of a few different ways to copy the image url (link, direct link, html image, bb code, etc).
Sometimes this site works with the direct link and sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes this site works with the link and sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes this site works with the html image and sometimes it doesn't.
That doesn't make sense to me why and sometimes I try using the 'post a film' instead of a picture here and it works. Sucks having to try posting an image in a combination of ways before I find the correct way that works for that specific image.

i figured it out. It seems giphy doesn't work. So I have been using google search or imgur.
