Football Transfer Tracker: IGC to SDSU as 25 of 31 former Huskers find new homes (Updated 2/2)

I agree with your last comment but our staff also isn’t going to keep guys around just because and cut existing players who are having a better camp. Some of these transfers are reaches and we can’t assume the staff is going to bat 1.000

My guess again is 3-5 transfers will be gone after Spring.
You think that guy's coming in in January of this year, might be off the team before the end of their first semester?

Yes. Not a lot but a few probably.

We ultimately need to get the roster down. Doesn’t matter if you are a new transfer or 2 year starter. We’ll keep the best 105.

Might have already been addressed but the thread is pretty long, but the most recent article states Nebraska has the 2nd best transfer class in the B1G. But according to the current Rivals rankings, we're #1 in conference and #6 overall? Am I looking at the right rankings? Or was there just a recent adjustment?

I see the same thing, #1 in BIG and 6th overall.

Rivals has completed their evaluations of Elijah Pritchett and Marquis Groves-Killebrew, giving them each a star rating and player ranking. Pritchett is a four-star ranked No. 37 overall nationally and No. 5 at the "OL" position while MGK is a three-star ranked in the 1,000s overall.

Those two updates have pushed Nebraska into the Top 10 of the national team transfer rankings, and the Huskers now have the No. 1 ranking in the Big Ten. More info is toward the top of this article post:

Killebrew in the 1000s. I'm calling bullsh*t on that one. But we'll see how it plays out. Key and Hunter still in the top ten at WR?

The ranking methodology clearly needs to be tweaked. Some of these schools shouldn’t be in the Top 10.

Does anyone else feel like NIL era is a chance for rich old guys to buy their team/players and go for bragging rights against their other rich old guys….like the two old duffers in Trading Places. I wonder if they have a private chat group where they taunt each other ??? Peeds, Sanford, Kiewett, etc vs THE WORLD !!

We will see how many of the incoming transfers leave after spring. Sure with that many coming you could easily have like 1 guy decide it’s not for him for a multitude of reasons, but I will be surprised if it’s more than that personally.

Its just hard to say as history isn’t a good guide as we’ve never taken this many transfers at once and the 105 is a new thing as well.

My simple thought is we all know well be cutting players post Spring and dont think new transfers will be treated any different than legacy players.

There another team in the Top 10 (UCF @ #4).

It would be sadly ironic if UCF surges again under HCSF. That would leave us in the sad realization of finding ourselves truly amidst some sort of football curse.

I believe we're nearing 40 losses by 1 score in the last half-decade or so. Some by the most unbelievable turns of events. Iowa last November landing right next to Iowa of the previous November as unbelievable losses.

When are we going to WIN those games. Not just "win" recruiting battles, land in Top 20's of signing classes and Portal transfer classes?

I mean...Ohio State should've been beaten had we not run 12 screen passes (11 radically unsuccessful) with Satterfield at the OC helm. AT Ohio State! A team on the verge of the national championship. Maybe talent isn't the issue as much as belief, coaching, special teams and the "little things" like teamwork. See Notre Dame for those.

It's time for NU to emerge, or we will soon be washed under the new Big 10 elite.

Looking at All Conference teams, talent is at least a part of the issue, looking at close game and the manner that we lose, talent isn't the whole reason.

Twice but overthrown.
The only thing I can say is that NU has yet to see a smallish fast receiver go elsewhere and thrive.

Seems like very few smallish WRs thrive after transferring, and being a small WR is tough period.

The closest exception involving NU was Spielman, who had a few moments at TCU but never recaptured his prior production at NU despite a good QB.

Most others leave and are either never heard from again or end up at a very small school with mediocre if any production. Remember Marcus Fleming? Wish Lloyd the best but do not think this was a massive loss.

Wan’dale Robinson is the one you missed. But otherwise, yes you’re not wrong.
