Can confirm that North Dakota State running back CharMar 'Marty' Brown will be visiting Nebraska on Thursday, Apr. 24. We've been tracking Brown's recruitment through the weekend, the Huskers have been assessing him since he made the surprising decision to enter the portal last week. Miami, LSU among other programs in the mix. The Hurricanes will get him on campus today, Apr. 21.
In 16 games last season, Brown ran for 1,181 yards and 15 touchdowns for an average of 4.8 yards per carry. Brown won the Jerry Rice Award as the top freshman football player in the FCS. He led all FCS freshmen in rushing attempts, yards, and touchdowns. The Omaha native was the first Bison running back in seven years to pass the 1,000-yard mark.

4/23 evening update: I have a much more positive report this evening, I can say confidently that CharMar Brown will make it to Nebraska on Thursday and sources indicate the Huskers have ramped up their efforts leading up to the visit. He's headed back from Miami currently, will arrive back home in Omaha this evening, then head to Lincoln in the morning.
The Hurricanes have given him a lot to think about, and despite their depth at running back, have indicated he would have a significant role in the offense. Cal remains the most aggressive team in pursuit and the Golden Bears will get him on campus Friday. Kansas State will also get him on campus towards the end of the weekend. A few other programs are trying to set up a visit, but for now Brown is sticking with these four visits. I'm told he intends to make all four visits before considering making a decision, regardless of what happens tomorrow, Cal and Kansas State will get a fair shot.
4/22 evening update: Earlier this spring, Matt Rhule said he has "no concerns" with Nebraska's depth at running back and the way the Huskers has approached Brown's recruitment thus far shows he wasn't bluffing.
CharMar Brown has been invited to stop by practice Thursday after visiting Miami Mon-Wed. As of Monday afternoon, those were the only two trips Brown had planned. But Cal and Kansas State, among a few other programs, have made an aggressive push and turned this into a very fluid situation. The Golden Bears are now in line to get him on campus for a formal visit at the end of the week, and they're working to get him to Berkley as soon as Thursday, which would prevent him from making it to Lincoln. Brown is also working to squeeze in a Kansas State visit this week if possible and sources indicate if one visit has to get cut in order to squeeze three visits in this week, it would be Nebraska.
I'd say at this point, I'm uncertain Brown makes it to Lincoln Thursday and even if he does, unless Nebraska ramps up the effort in the next 24-48 hours, I don't see this going the Huskers' way. He's had more communication with the coaching staffs at all three other programs mentioned than Nebraska. The Hurricanes have him in town currently and would prefer to secure his pledge before he leaves on Wednesday, Cal is setting the market from an NIL standpoint per sources and Kansas State has pitched him on a featured role in the offense. On Nebraska's end, while the staff has shown interest, they appear to be treating this recruitment as one that "would be nice" to win, but not one they "must win." That sentiment could change amidst the roster attrition that will come with the portal window closing Friday and Nebraska wrapping up spring ball on Saturday. If the Huskers do decide to ramp up efforts with Brown, this is still a recruitment they can win, Nebraska was a dream offer for the Creighton Prep alum out of high school.
As Rhule said, "desperate teams set the market," and Nebraska isn't desperate to add to the room, the staff seems more than comfortable with a rotation of Kwinten Ives, Mekhi Nelson and Kenneth Williams behind Emmett Johnson after seeing their strides this spring. It also isn't out of the question that Conor Booth and/or Jamarion Parker work themselves into the rotation at some point this year.
