There’s probably 10 guys on the roster that just want to be included so that they can say they’re on the football team. Several more just doing enough to keep on scholarship, but knowing they don’t have what it takes to push to the top

What was his record before the conference change? He lost to 6 loss Nebraska, 7 loss Kansas, and 4 loss KSU. Good thing he didn’t move to the Big 8.
Best wins were against the #5 & #7 ranked teams in the Big12. The rest were ranked #12-#16 (out of 16), lol.

It is the waterfall effect and I'm sure the reference was more towards the non-scholarship players. Guys that could walk-on, contribute on the scout team and be part of a program essentially have no place anymore unless they pick playing ball at a tiny lower division school.

The 105 rule could have been managed effectively by leaving it alone. Sooner or later, teams (like Nebraska?) would have realized that there's such a thing as having too many players. It's called the Law of Diminishing Returns. Eventually, a program gets to a point where adding more players actually produces a negative return. Same is true of anything-- like the size of a coaching staff.
We need two big defensive tackles. Then a CB and WR. That's about it. We've got some good young offensive linemen who are ready to step up. That said, any all-conference performer at any position would be welcome. They gotta be selective. Too many busts taking away reps from our young kids and taking up space in the training room.
We're losing a lot in the middle. Jeudy is the next man up. He's got experience and I like having 22/23 year old men on the defensive line. The thing is he has to bulk up. We have too many 275 pounders getting pushed around inside. Van Poppel was a big factor against Iowa because he has the size to take on a double team. We don't need any DTs losing weight in the off-season. We're not training them to run the 400 meters.
This program is not in a position to take gambles on anybody anymore. We've seen it with Gilbert, Omar Manning and several others. I wasn't a fan of bringing in Neyor since he didn't play at Texas. At first, I was hoping that I was wrong, but in the end we all saw Neyor's shortcomings. No more Texas rejects.
Iowa had a lot of good fortune on their side to win that game. Fans on this board don't want to hear it because of our history of losing. But when your team lines up and kicks Iowa's ass on 75% of the plays from the line of scrimmage, it would be stupid to get rid of everybody.
Yeah, I don't disagree, Jeudy I just thought would be much much better. RVP was a stud as a frosh and you could see the future. I'm hoping some of the younger guys next year are the same. Jeudy to me is just another guy that hasn't done much. I like the idea of having a grown man in the trenches, but I'd also see what might be out there in the portal to replace him. Maybe we can get someone with more of a motor and killer mentality. I feel a little bit of the same on Butler. I like what JB brings, but he is so inconsistent and that is what kills this team. You aren't going to be a super star in every game, but you can't just disappear. Seems weird that Princewill, Lenhardt, and others seemed to disappear a bit this year.

I suspect privately Rhule doesn’t mind this new limit. Yeah he was a walk on but now he’ll get 20 more scholarship guys and won’t have to try to manage all those walk ons. Maybe it opens a few scholarships for a Nebraska kid who wouldn’t have been on scholarship before. It might have been a better idea to implement this slowly with a limit on walk ons of say 10-15 decreasing by 5 every year.
Technically you can still have walk ons if you don’t want to give out all of your scholarships. Some cash strapped programs may do that.

Privately, none of these coaches actually mind it. There’s now a built in excuse for the previously hard talk coaches wanted to have with several guys but could let really… and now they can.
“Sorry, but with the 105 hard limit now, I think you’ll be a better fit at a G5 or 1-AA school if you want to play”.
And, younger guys will get more reps and hopefully develop quicker… hopefully

Injuries ate this kid up, but shit happens in life, but this room needs a big time facelift. Ervin just doesn't have it after all of the injuries. I hope to see his coach entering the portal soon as well. Does FSU need a RB coach?

I mean.... Once again, what has the guy produced? He wasn't like a RVP, Wallin or other guy who actually looked decent. Yeah he may build into a good player, but sounds like he didn't embrace the S&C program. At this point he is a non-producer...
