Transfer Portal Season

Sledge will be starting on the OL. The rest I wouldn’t be surprised at all to see in the portal.
My bad. I had him pegged as a nose for some reason. I thought they were pretty high on Tagaloa?

That one stung but Iowa can’t feel great about their team. Changing OCs did nothing for their offense. At some point they’re going to run out of luck playing the way they do. Their QB fumbled twice on one play and both times the ball bounced back up in to his hands. Odds are that that isn’t going to keep happening for them.
Their offense was better when healthy

Back put up massive numbers

We recovered 3 of our own fumbles on Friday before disaster struck

This was supposed to be a down year for them and it was going 8-4

Like NGMR thought it was a good idea to say: “we still need to catch them.”

Figure the average in FBS is 115 kids, I have no idea but that is a conservative number. That would be 1,350 players either move down to lower levels or quit playing.
Might be great for The Rock’s spring league

Seriously, there is life after football.

If they can’t play and don’t want to go down a level…tough sh!t.

There’s all kinds of fake private scholarship $$ at D-2 and especially NAIA for guys that filter down.
Junior college, too

Play well, you’re right back somewhere else

In a couple years Jayhawk League games might look like the old Sun Belt

There is life after football. But to make that come years earlier for some kids for no good reason is stupid and heartless. Yeah, the D1 kids can move down, but eventually some kids will get cut out of the system. Kids. Not pro’s. You’re talking 18-22 year old kids that just wanted to play for a few more years before moving on to the real world. Because that who is getting cut. The kids playing simply because they like it

Gabe Ervin Jr is someone id expect to move soon. You can’t go from basically day 1 as a freshman to basically nonexistent as an upperclassman

Ives will also be a candidate to move on but I see him sticking around until spring to figure out where he is on the depth and if Nelson jumps him like the rumor has it, Ives needs to figure out his next step in life.

We should have a solid 1-2 combo next year, the staff likes Nelson, and have 2 RBs coming in with this class assuming Conor gets a look at RB. 5 backs on ship seems like a good number. 7 kids on ship is too much @ RBs especially when 2 of those guys probably aren’t FBS talent

Yes, they should play because they like it.

Behind Jeudy are a bunch of guys who haven’t done shit. Anyone who thinks we don’t need him knows nothing about football.

And don’t give the “young guys” shit either, unless they were a true frosh I don’t give a crap… I want dudes who can play now. This is the NIL/portal era. We lost Ty and Nash, that’s hard to replace. Keep Jeudy, get a DT in the portal and get Van Poppel and Jackson ready.

IMO biggest needs are a WR, OT, DT and CB1.

We could use other guys but those are absolute minimums
And that dude said I don't know anything about football...

It's obvious Jeudy is going to play a big role for our defensive line next year. He's done well in his limited time. Just needs to take that next step up and become a legit P4 starter.

Nebraska needs to stop going for failed 5 stars in football. Very few have panned out compared to lower level players that are successful. Imo.

Indiana set up a good road map of sound players that can lay a foundation. I wonder if they are a bit too senior transfer dependent, but that’s another issue.

I agree. I just totalled 152 on this roster list and that is not including, what 30 seniors, that I didn't even have on the roster. For crying out loud 182 kids is nuts.

I don’t think we had that many Seniors, a lot of those 30 that walked on Senior day have eligibility remaining. The number had a seen earlier was 171 (which is still just nuts).

Getting from 152 to 105 would mean sending 47 kids packing. However, you have to think we will also add some portal guys, so that number could end up being closer to 60!

60? That’s a good start.

They can transfer to a school where they might get playing time.

If they aren't good enough to get playing time on a 6-6 team then they probably shouldn't be on Nebraska's roster to begin with.
This is just silly.

According to your rational we should have a roster of 35-40 and about 6 freshmen. Yeah that’ll go well

Probably cut much deeper and start over.

Isaiah Stalbird ended up with a 7 year college career and a national title ring at SDSU. IF they really want to play, they can find a spot. They’re going to bump some guys off FCS, D2 and NAIA rosters.
