What does the NU coaches have to sell to the top recruits across the country if they're trying to lure them to NU? All these teams: Alabama, Ohio State, Michigan, Clemson, Texas, Texas A&M, Oregon, Okie State, OU, USC, Florida, Georgia, LSU, and other colleges all have facilities that's comparable or better than NU's facilities. Trying to get those 4 & 5 stars players to come here is gonna be tough but we'll see what Mike Riley and company can do.

Early playing time, game day atmosphere, academic assistance, ....

As much as you are gonna say, "Big Deal, others have that", I'm gonna add fan base, tradition and history to what we have to offer. And I do think these coaches care more for the player then a lot of the coaches at these universities you listed...

Those other colleges offer the same thing.
Exactly. Other than a "blue blood" tradition that modern recruits have no memory of, there is nothing NU has to offer that other top tier type schools also don't have as well. Add in our geographical isolation and small recruiting population, and you have some real problems.

Which is why you better have GREAT coaches across the board at NU who can really bond with recruits on a personal level and who can make top tier talent WANT to play for them. You have to have coaches who are go getters who can get recruits excited.

Despite what some say on here, I think Parella is that type of coach. Others on our staff are as well.

I love how we are proud of our academic assistance, and it is a hit with some of the recruits... but I have to be skeptical about how much academic assistance is viewed with some of the higher tier athletes who are visiting competitor colleges where a whole 10 minutes is scheduled for academics overviews during an official and/or they won't necessarily have to do anything in the classroom to get on the field.

Parents are a big part of where a kid goes to play
