Tony White and the 3-3-5 LMAO šŸ¤£

Our secondary is awful. Itā€™s players. Not scheme. The scheme was fine last year with good players. But this fan base will continue to react in the moment and ignore all the context.
Itā€™s not all the players. We have a couple of weak players. Weā€™re playing one guy who looks like a 7th grader. Team after team finds our weakest guys and exploits them.

NU has not won a game if the defense gives up 17 or more points ... The offense can't score more than 13 points is a game. If this defense had a non offensive offense, there would be at least 3 more wins... Put the blame where it belongs.
Our average points have been about 19. We had a pick 6 and still only scored 20. Not gonna beat many teams like that. Redzone continues to be our biggest problem.

Omg. It doesnā€™t have to be ā€œall the playersā€. The fact of the matter is that MH is one of the best we have and he gets abused. If we play zone, we get picked apart. If we play man, they throw at MH and there is nothing we can do. White is great. He canā€™t overcome the current talent he had available in the secondary.

MH is NOT one of the best we have. His size alone makes him an easy target. IF he were one of the best we have teams wouldnā€™t target him after play after play after play. I love the kid but heā€™s just too damned small.

Not here anyways. Even if we had the Dudes itā€™s not a good fit in the BIG-10!
We end up rushing 4 much of time. Likewise teams that run a 4-3 often drop a DE back in coverage. I would like to see us with bigger edge guys but our backend is a bigger problem than our front 3. We need to get bigger and faster at linebacker.

Who is better? When he was hurt, our secondary wasnā€™t any better.

Itā€™s easy to understand. EVERY OC weā€™ve faced has attacked him. He may even be more assignment sound but his size is a severe handicap. Heā€™s easy to find. No doubt heā€™s more assignment sound than his backup BUT if itā€™s man on man I want his backup.

Heā€™s our weakest starting DB. Period. Not arguable.

I never argued with that. But him being the weak point doesnā€™t mean we have someone better. Those are different issues.

Iā€™m saying that his size alone is almost a disqualifier. He had no chance against the size USC threw at him. He also let a WR get behind him in the endzone today.

I havenā€™t been able to watch the game yet, but I like the 3-3-5. What Iā€™m noticing, and if Iā€™m wrong, thatā€™s cool, but the polar bear has not been effective this season like he was last year and that has made a big difference upfront.

Getting beat doesnā€™t mean someone else is better. The assumption that you have to have someone else that can do better isnā€™t necessarily true. MH missed time. We were worse.

Theyā€™re double teaming the hell out of him. Itā€™s obvious as well that heā€™s playing through a knee injury.

It's having guys that can tackle in space.

Exactly. How many draft picks does USC have in their 2 deep? 20? We are expecting our coaches to overcome years of subpar recruiting in two seasons. Yes, we probably should have done more roster turnover with the portal. We have no choice next year

They show us right off the bat by going right after Hartzog. When we play him, there's not much we can do about it.

I haven't really charted it, but it looks like all year we've been very right handed when we get to the red zone. I remember a few td's to the left side, but mostly to the right. Or at least that how I'm remembering the season.

Could be nothing, could be something.
