Tony White and Terrance Knighton reportedly leaving for FSU

Don't know the motivation for this lateral move, but today, coupled with the on field results to date, marks the end of Rhule's time here.

It will take a year or two to become official, but this is it.

Which sucks because I really, really wanted him to succeed.
Even im not waiving the white flag yet. Let’s see who Rhule hires and see if he can retain Dana and maybe , just maybe Rhule can pull a rabbit out of his ass for the third time in year three

On the defensive depth chart, the following players were 4 or 5 star recruits: Ty, Jeudy, Keona Davis, Cam Leonhardt, PWill, Shavers, MJ Sherman, and Ceyair Wright, or 28% of the depth chart. To compare, there were 6 of 28 on the Iowa game depth chart in 2021.
yep, hopefully they live up to 4 stars on the field and not just on the internet site.....wait....hopefully they stay and dont follow Tony...and they live up to the 4 stars

To me, this is at best a lateral move and one that comes with some substantial risk. Norvell will be on a very hot seat going into next season. They have been struggling to retain recruits and players have been leaving. I don't see any real chance that FSU is better than a .500 team next year without a massive roster overhaul. I think FSU will also have Coach Prime on the phone before long and Tony probably won't be a part of that staff.
He must not have been happy where he was. He certainly looked like a lock for a HC position within the next year or two. I think if he stays at NU he will be in line to be a HC faster.
People can spin White's departure anyway they want. It simply is not a good look. I think this is a clear indication of the turmoil and unhappiness amongst the coaching staff. White is highly regarded, and he is easily the Huskers' best coach. If he is jumping ship to go to Florida State, a 2-10 team, things must be really bad amongst the coaches. I think it will be awful if Rhule just rubber stamps Butler and moves him up to the DC role without testing the market for a truly great DC. It will show me Rhule values his buddies over good coaches (See Foley and McGuire.). I have lost confidence in Rhule's ability to provide proper leadership to the team and I do not think it ends well.

This. Amen

We’ll know this time next year if Rhule is the guy or not. I’d say the vast majority of Husker nation is in the undecided camp
Right now.
True from a hopeful side u could say he's on track. But man it's been messy. If he doesn't get to 9 or 10 wins and we had to eat these last 2 years will not go over well.

I think at this point we should just cut the UNL football program and save the anguish and drama.

Time to throw our eggs in the Hoiberg basket and enjoy what's left of Cook's tenure. I heard we have a decent bowling team too.

I don't think Tony appreciated being undermined by Butler, in addition to having Snow looking over his shoulder.
What do you mean undermined?

TW made it pretty clear that he wasn't a long term option. Not even really an option past this season. He literally started his exit plan and we brought in Butler as part of that plan.

Plus, we never looked better after Snow started advising.

The biggest problem was lack of depth we have pretty decent starting defensive but we lose hill and blye, I know people are upset we only one 6 games, here is the truth on offense the transfers didn’t preform as we thought hence only play maker was Barney until DH came along and the running back started to produce but we a lacking several home run hitters on offense and on defense we need depth especially at linebacker and secondary.
Iowa, Rutgers, Washington, Minnesota all finished ahead of us in the B10 and would take our WRs in a heartbeat. People act like they sucked which is nonsense in comparison to these other teams.

I don’t think most see a move from NU to FSU as a clear indication of turmoil or unhappiness. It’s FSU, he’s not leaving for Utah State.

There is no rule against recognizing sarcasm.
Sarcasm is a verbal thing I guess. Your post was at the end of a series of woe is me/I'm opening a vein in a warm tub posts and while I accept your attempted sarcasm, your post wasn't much different tonally than the others.

Wolf. Let’s cut our public school system with unhinged rants like this

That's a pretty bad indictment of Rhule. I hate to say it, but it looks like we will be searching for a new HC after year 3.
Maybe, just maybe Rhule doesn't think the 335 will be effective in the b1g. I know it been said many times that you can run many schemes out of it which is true BUT, that means having a Suh every year that can take on double teams and have the speed of a running back.

Maybe a traditional 4-3 defense is the best way forward

Why exactly does a coordinator and an assistant leaving doom Rhule? White is a good DC but was kind of flying under the radar when Rhule snagged him. If I'm an up and coming DC, I'd have to like the younger talent that Rhule has recruited. And I doubt this comes as a surprise to Rhule, so I'm sure he's already been working on replacements.
Plus it was kinda predicted that tw wouldn't be here after this year anyway because the defense was gonna be so good that he'd get a hc gig somewhere. But the defense performance this year changed the latter.

It is still him leaving and why? A 2-10 FSU who like us is a long way away from a legendary coach.

Banker ran a 4-3 in 2016. Top 30 D in yards given up per game.

Sounds like players are following...

It'll be interesting to see who goes. Are they really better than the talent FSU already has on defense? It's not like FSU doesn't have talent.

We have to hope the new DC has the connections to bring more talent with him than we have leave.

1890 hired some Dogg the bounty hunter wannabees...the just stopped 2 at the airport bags packed, they were trying to follow Big Tone....one looked like shavers and one .....Jacory Barney.....OH HEEEEELLLL NOOOOOO
One thing that might have played a part in FSU having interest in White and that might be a factor in Florida players leaving for FSU - Philip Simpson, a former high school head coach from Miami, was a defensive quality control assistant for Nebraska until early this year when he left to take an analyst position with FSU. Simpson played a big role in Nebraska signing guys like Barney and Shavers.

There is no way Neyor and Banks even step on the field with the Huskies. Denzel Boston (60 receptions/807 yards/9 TD with mediocre Will Rogers III throwing to him) will be playing in the NFL when Neyor and Banks are at home watching him on TV.

Other than CU, we weren't good all year.
