His scheme worked fine with a NG that controlled the middle and a rather athletic DE for his size. When White was hired there was all sorts of people claiming he scheme wouldn't work, asking if he had the experience to coach in the Big 10 etc.

Again, that was the talk when he was hired by Rhule. I don't have a problem with White, never did. I am just saying he was one of those lesser known coaches that actually worked out well at a traditionally relevant school. His scheme worked fine with a NG that controlled the middle and a rather athletic DE for his size.
Would be a great get. Not sure why he isn’t a hotter commodityAny chance the ex Wisconsin DC would entertain an offer? NU runs a similar scheme. He seemed to have outstanding defenses at Wiscy
The last thing you want Rhule doing is operating under pressure. If Rhule can’t hold onto Dana then kiss next season goodbye. The defense would of taken a step back anyway even with TW. Offense needs to carry the load next year
He’d be a great pick, so knowing Rhule, I’d count him out.Would be a great get. Not sure why he isn’t a hotter commodity
I'd take any proven DC over Butler.Any chance the ex Wisconsin DC would entertain an offer? NU runs a similar scheme. He seemed to have outstanding defenses at Wiscy
Paper tigersWould be a huge loss. Our defense, though not perfect, has been a huge strength for us.
I don't think Tony appreciated being undermined by Butler, in addition to having Snow looking over his shoulder. To me, this is at best a lateral move and one that comes with some substantial risk. Norvell will be on a very hot seat going into next season. They have been struggling to retain recruits and players have been leaving. I don't see any real chance that FSU is better than a .500 team next year without a massive roster overhaul. I think FSU will also have Coach Prime on the phone before long and Tony probably won't be a part of that staff.
He must not have been happy where he was. He certainly looked like a lock for a HC position within the next year or two. I think if he stays at NU he will be in line to be a HC faster.
Lateral move is indicative of not being happy at his present gig, and/or promises of staff stability at FSU and a dump truck of cash were made. Pot Roast was a Rhule guy. He must like what Tony is doing.Again, that was the talk when he was hired by Rhule. I don't have a problem with White, never did. I mean, people leave jobs for another job for few reasons. To me, this is at best a lateral move and one that comes with some substantial risk. Knighton is the real head scratcher here because he had a history with Rhule.I mean, people leave jobs for another job for few reasons.
1. More money/title/power whatever you want to call it
2. They don't like the people they work with
3. Commute (I am guessing this one did not play a factor)
If you're gonna leave, may as well be after Ty and Nash graduate. If they take McGahee and Shavers with them, FSU gets a lot of bang for their buck.Knighton is the real head scratcher here because he had a history with Rhule.

He only struggled some with tOSU. But I think that was a talent issue.I’d be happy with a Jim Leonard pick, he knows the big 10 and how to beat Iowa
shit the bed against USC?I mean let's go back and look at Tony White in prime time.
In the biggest games:
2024 Illinois - Huge game and D couldn't get stops..
2024 Indiana - Another just absolute shit the bed moment
2024 UCLA - Shit the bed moment
2024 USC - Shit the bed moment
2024 Wisconsin - No way that team should have scored 25
I know this isn't all on TW as had some major turnover, but in the biggest games we seemed to wilt on D. Colorado was the only game where we met the hype with what our D should look like. In every other big moment when the national spotlight might be on us we wilted on D.
We were good at OSU.I mean let's go back and look at Tony White in prime time.

That's a pretty bad indictment of Rhule. I hate to say it, but it looks like we will be searching for a new HC after year 3.The fraud couldn’t hold onto his best coaches. They’d rather make lateral moves to a team with a coach on the hot seat.
Fax he's pissed. I think it might open some Wisconsin recruiting cause they were pissed how they did him wrong. That kid is good and would love to mold him for the future.Leonard would be a get … plus he would have an axe to grind with Wisconsin and likely he hates other B1G teams as we do. I hope we are getting someone not on our staff at the moment.
If it's Butler, stick a fork in the defense and probably Rhule in a couple years. Our secondary sucked this year. Idk if we want to put that on TW or Butler, but it was bad. I do not want to hope that Butler can be a good DC...give me Jim Leonhard or someone with proven experience.
Possibly but I doubt it. FSU is too big of a school to put unknowns at the helm of the team.Maybe he was told he could be HC when Norvell gets fired next season.

and couldn't get stops and let balls get caught that could have been picked. USC is not good and D wilted. Yes, shit the bed.shit the bed against USC?
defense had a pick 6 and held them to one of their lowest point totals of the season.
Maybe. When OSU threw it, they got yards at will. They continued to try and run it and credit to our D we stopped them. I think that was more of an OSU coaching issue than our D. Their WR's would have shredded our secondary if they would have slung it around. We were good at OSU.
If NU isn't able to replace White and Pot Roast adequately, and if NU doesn't come up really big in the portal, stick a fork in this program for a few more years....if ever.My gut reaction is not good. Knighton is a stud and will be missed. These are a few of our best coaches and we will have to endure all of this until Rhule is replaced.
Highly doubt that. That would mean he’d have to tank the defense so Norvell gets firedMaybe he was told he could be HC when Norvell gets fired next season.
I still say it was the OSU hangover from the Oregon game and looking ahead to PSU.Maybe. When OSU threw it, they got yards at will. The biggest problem was lack of depth we have pretty decent starting defensive but we lose hill and blye, I know people are upset we only one 6 games, here is the truth on offense the transfers didn’t preform as we thought hence only play maker was Barney until DH came along and the running back started to produce but we a lacking several home run hitters on offense and on defense we need depth especially at linebacker and secondary. Our secondary sucked this year. Idk if we want to put that on TW or Butler, but it was bad. I do not want to hope that Butler can be a good DC...give me Jim Leonhard or someone with proven experience.
Why exactly does a coordinator and an assistant leaving doom Rhule? White is a good DC but was kind of flying under the radar when Rhule snagged him. If I'm an up and coming DC, I'd have to like the younger talent that Rhule has recruited. And I doubt this comes as a surprise to Rhule, so I'm sure he's already been working on replacements.Don't know the motivation for this lateral move, but today, coupled with the on field results to date, marks the end of Rhule's time here.
It will take a year or two to become official, but this is it.
Which sucks because I really, really wanted him to succeed.
And they didn’t create many turnovers, look at Iowa they won because we lost 3 of 5 fumbles, I think Iowa recovered there only one, let’s just hope we don’t don’t have any top players transferring to FSU , that’s the name of the game in today’s college footballand couldn't get stops and let balls get caught that could have been picked. USC is not good and D wilted. Yes, shit the bed.
Losing Knighton is 10x more concerning for me. Rhule really looks out of his element, and now with his own hires leaving for lateral moves, of all places to a program with a coach on the hot seat, is a really bad look.Knighton is the real head scratcher here because he had a history with Rhule.
