Glad to have that game behind us. Like coach said, we could have saved ourselves some agitation if we had converted those goal line fumbles. All in all, the team looked good today. Offense put up some yards and defense looked good on third down and generally made Northwestern earn their way down the field.

The mental toughness of this team is light years ahead of where it was last year. O and D did enough to finish out the 4th quarter, way different than last year in the 4th. The team also kept their heads in the game despite those two missteps at the goal line in the first half. I'm liking this team!

I cant believe we are satisfied with our D. It was porous at times and this was no offensive juggernaut.

I was a little worried about this game all week. Flying high after a big win, and hard fought win at that. NW always plays us tough. First conference game, first game of the year on the road. Just a lot of things that really set this one up as a trap game. Glad to get a W, and have that one behind us.

The team just wasn't quite there mentally they way they were last week, but they overcame it and got the W. So we'll take it. They need to focus in this week and exact some revenge on Illinois.

We are getting back w's left on the field in 2105.Illinois is another bad taste that needs mouthwash next week.Northwestern always gets up for us and we got out of our own way to win.Eggs and bacon have been tasting good the last 4 Sunday mornings.lol

Part of the defensive performance was their quick throw gameplan, part of it was our weakness on getting our players on the dline freein the backfield.

The first issue the D can't do much about. That type of offense will have to execute on all of their plays to march down the field, and as we saw from the third down conversion rate the D did well there.

The second issue we're just gonna have to live with it this year (maybe next sadly). I am sure with JP recruiting that will get much better in the future, but we'll have to wait for it.

The part that was concerning for me were those 8-11 yard runs Northwestern had. That could have been better, but it wasn't horrible either. Remember when third and short was an automatic first down against our D? That's not the case any more, and I love that change running Banker's system!
